I'm in. Giving away my Scion xB 10 spoke hubs for free for this solution.
Will probably paint these rings Gold or Bronze.

Anyone have experience with paint? What holds up best on Chrome?

If you start with polished stainless rings you could use Duplicolor gold tint or find a bronze tint and follow up with some clearcoat.

^ Yea, Duplicolor makes a metal paint, it's anodized look, or something like that. In theory, wheel paint would work too.

Wheel paint would defeat the purpose of having the shiny rings. Just paint the rims then.
You want to tint the shiny rings with transparent color. I haven't seen a bronze color spray tint tho.

I haven't either, I've seen a black chrome, red, blue... the usual suspects.

Duplicolor also had yellow and orange listed on one site. Never seen it on the shelf yet tho.

I wonder how hard it would be to cover up the TOYOTA part and put on a Scion badge and make it look good. (I'm assuming it's etched, not a decal)

Or for that matter, has anyone done a badge swap with Toyota on their box? That might be interesting...

TheRealBoxter, where did you get the center caps?

I want to do this as well but I have some questions:

1. How secure are the trim rings?
2. How do you keep the steel wheels shiny?

The trims rings are pretty damn secure. They go on like hubcaps but you've gotta push in real hard to get them on. And as far keeping the steelies shiny, you'll have to wash it very often and wax them as well. But I honestly don't think it's possible to keep the shine for too long. My shine is pretty much gone and I wash my car regularly.

the center caps - i added just a touch of clear sealant- to keep it water tight- and stick better - caps came from NAPPA- the part number is somewher in these pages.
the rings appear to be on pretty good
I bought clear coat and one of these days when i'm brave enough- i will seal the whole rim with it. It should keep it shiny for a long time!

I'm really pleased of how well it looks. I'm really astonished with the transformation.

I couldn't decide whether to roll hubcaps or steelies since I can't afford rims right now so someone showed me this thread! I'm diggin the trim rings although I personally think it looks better on some colors than others. I like the way it looks on white the best, other colors are kinda..hmmm..not sure..I might be getting some trim rings for my torched penny

Between this thread and the "moons and whitewalls" thread, we've got some cool info going here!
Thanks, guys!

I know this is a late response, I guess this goes for ANYBODY that has the napa cups...did you just pull up to a napa, walk in and give them the part # and they had them in stock? Or how's that work?

Thanks,

I'd also like to know about the stainless steel option someone mentioned, versus the regular steel ones. Is that also a NAPA part?

My store had to order them but some might have them in stock. Guess ya just have to call them and check stock or have them ordered.

Eek. I've lost a tercel cap on the road so I only have three now. If anyone has an extra tercel cap (or more than 1) I'm willing to buy! PM me.

I'm just rocking the trim rings without anything else, but it still looks good.
