They say these are a "gun metal grey" color on the NAPA site.. you were able to polish them up a little?

My Yaris already come with chrome lug nuts, how close will these polish up to that finish?

TIA!
I can see my reflection in them after I polished them. It is real near chrome like. Use mothers and some elbow grease.

Also... after you polish any aluminum, make sure you clean it. No matter how shiny and clean you think it is after a good polish there is one more step. MINERAL SPIRITS. Use that to clean them off one more time after you polish. This will help clean off any residue, dirt or dust that may left after polishing.

That's why I said to wipe them down with rubbing alchol after polishing them and before you clear them.

BTW: these are steel caps. Not aluminum.

Yeah mine shined up to almost chrome look as well. Mother's is the way to go.

I bought extra as well and the guy at Napa said to try using clear gasket sealent to help the stay on. I haven't tried it yet though.

Also I am in the process of trying to spray paint one chrome but so far it is not turning out better than what you get polishing them. I need to put on a few more coats the a clear coat. After I am done I will compare the two.

I dipped mine in a quart can of clear coat paint then let them dry. No runs and a nice thick coat at the same time.

Looks good. Looks real good.

I am considering Painting my Calipers Green but I am not sure they will show enough through the Steely and I am not sure how easy it will be to clean

what do you think?

You're right. The only time I can see my calipers and drums is when I have my 17" setup on. You might see some of the green but don't think you'd see enough to be worth the effort.

I used my dremel and polished them up, they came out alright, but I burned one, went right through the galvanize on it. So it has a darker shiney area on the top of that one. Should be ordering my chrome rings this friday(paycheck)

This is definately a nice look if you are on a budget or you don't want to ride your ultra nice rims on a daily

Found a seller on eBay listing 15" trim rings for under $30 shipped for a set of 4 - including stainless! I am in no way affiliated with the seller. Use the search feature to look for "trim rings".

http://stores.ebay.com/Cripe-Distributing

Also - jethro_b, what fog lights are those? It never occurred to me to mount a non-OEM pair in the lower grille area.

I'm wondering how it would look if the steelies were painted argent silver instead of black. It would give them more of an OEM old school look. IMO

I have joined the bling.

Just completed the change. I painted my rims since they were a tad marred up. 50,000+ miles will do that. I'll polish them later, but they look good now.

Thanks to all for the insight on getting the parts and making it happen.

What color did you do your rims in? Can you post up some picks?

All the parts arrived today to do this conversion, which will be perfect since affording anything but dressed-up steel isn't in my budget for a while.

Questions:

- Do I neeed to clearcoat all the chrome / polished parts, or just the NAPA grease caps?

- If I end up having to repaint the wheels, would they benefit from a clearcoat as well?
