i'm trying to figure out this whole bore thing but i've searched and still don't understand it....the post says the tC's bore is 54.1 mm.....i'm looking at enkei rs7's which have a bore diameter of 72.6 mm.....will this still fit? if so, will it need hubcentric rings or anything like that due to the bore difference?

Yes, you will need the rings. They make up the difference between the hole of the wheel and the size of the hub. Basically centering the wheel on the hub so there is no wobble. Hope this clears it up for ya.

What the 54.1 and 72.6 above mean to you is that the Scion has a 54.1mm diameter 'bump' sticking out of the middle if the place you will mount your wheel, and there is a 72.6mm diameter 'hole' in the back center of the wheel that goes over that bump.

To make the two match, so that the bump keeps the wheel properly centered on the axle, you need a 'hubcentric ring' that has an outside diameter of 72.6mm and a hole in it's middle of 54.1.

When the ring is put in the wheel's hole and then the whole works put on the car, everything is properly centered. All the lugs and lug nuts do is hold the wheel on - they don't really play a part in centering the wheel.

Hope that made some sense. :D

OOHHHHHH yes now i understand....we tried to fit my wheels on a friends jetta cause he wanted to buy them.....thats the problem we ran into but we thought it had something to do with the brakes....the jetta's bump thingy was bigger than the tc's so they wouldn't go on....is there any way to bore out the hole in the wheel to make it fit on the jetta's or is that asking for way too much work? the measurement came out that we would need an extra 1/16th of an inch all around.....

A machine shop COULD machine out the center to the proper size on a lathe, but it would be a very exacting job that most probably wouldn't want to do. Get that center bore off-center, and you've just ruined a wheel.

Wow, there must be a "technical" echo in here

okay... 8 pages to look through... didn't find my answer..

I've got a set of works leadsled 17X7 with a 35mm offset..

I was recommended 215/40-17, 205/40-17 and the one I would really prefer 215/50-17 in a toyo proxy-4. Does anyone know if the 215/50-17 will fit with a 35 mm offset.. I am running the TRD springs/struts, so it is lowered slightly.

Thanks for your help

I've got 215/45/17's and they are tight at the front of the rear wheelwell lip (I can barely fit a fingers witdth). I'm thinking the 215/50's will be too tall and rub that spot.
I say go and mount one up and test-fit it on the rear. You'll see what I mean.

Well, searching got zero results, and reading though this thread didn't help......

4Hx100 @ 14x6.5 +40

Will they fit on an xB?

The offset is OK, its 4 lug, etc...........I just didn't know about having a 14" on there, if it will clear everything.

Yeah, I know everyone is doing huge 18" rims and whatnot.............but these rims are *really* unique.

There have been some 14s on some xBs, but it depends on the design of the wheel itself on whether or not it will fit and clear. I don't know of any way to assure that without test fitting the actual wheels.

They actually fill the wheel well nicely. Plus it gives me a nice sidewall thickness for pothole protection. No rubbing issues either with 17X7 +40 offset

Solarxb20 , You will be fine with that size. even with my 215/45/17's I only rub slightly with 4 people in the box when hitting large bumps.

Avon Tech M550 AS 205/45WR17. Kazera 17" 9 spoke alloys.

It's been raining here for two days, and I can tell you for a fact that the wet weather and aquaplaning performance of these tires is exceptional...so good ya wanna haul ___, so be careful.

Default I searched too, and couldn't find my answer, so....

I've got a stock xB, and I want to use the stock steelies, but put on 205/50-15 tires, will I have fitting problems with the steelies?

(I know, I know, I should be getting rims as well, but budgetary constraints say tires and that's it...)

As usual, I appreciate all the help you guys can give!

Thanks!
