I want to get rims for the wife's box but she will not lower it!!! So I was thinking 18's would look the best with no lowering. I am looking at Kyowa Racing KR 518 (18x7.5.4x100.73.1.42.bwmf) with either 205/40R18 or 215/40R18
NOW WILL THIS SET UP RUB!!!!

With that offset (+42) on a 7.5" wheel, you will need spacers to not hit the trailing arm in the rear. As far as rubbing, they should not since it's not lowered. I run a 17x7 with a 215/45-17 and they don't come close to rubbing on anything (+42mm offset). The 215/40-18 and my tire are very close to the same diameter, so running the 205 should be a definite no-rub with the spacers in the rear.

Throw on some tein h-techs when you get the rims... she will never know.

Dude here is a picture of mine with the same size wheels and it's dropped 2" and it did not rub at all. So keeping it stock hight will be fine.




Now I have 19's with 45 offset and they are still fine..

So if +42 will hit the trailing arm in the rear what offset will not 18x7.5.4x100.73.1.38.

Ok so if I go 18x7.5 ET40 with 205/40R18 they say the Tires are 18 mm taller than OEM and if I go with 215/40R18 Tires are 26 mm taller than OEM
which one would not rub!!!

My wife's xB currently has 18x7.5 Konig Next with a +45 offset. In the rear we added 3/8" OTG spacers for a little additional clearance. Though I think it would have BARELY fit without the spacers. A little too close for my taste. She is currently sitting on 215/35/18s with absolutely no rubbing at stock height. The car should be lowered soon using DF210s and I don't foresee any rubbing then either.

The wheel gap is noticeable though, so you would definitely want a larger tire. A 215/40 should work pretty well, even though it is a little larger than stock diameter. Even a 225/40/18 is within the 3% differential if you go by the JDM tire size.

ok. i am hoping someone smarter than me can help me out. i am trying to get a good looking finished product without rubbing or problems.

i am planning a 18 x 7.5 (et 40 cb 73) not sure what those numbers are or mean.... would i need spacers in the rear? how much would work? and what about offset... how do you fix this what do you get? confused.... and it is the same offset for all the tires? planning on goin with coilovers to drop it probably about an inch and a half for normal driving.

You won't NEED spacers, but they will help push the back wheels out a bit more. I think a wheel with the specs you gave would clear all of the suspension ok, but it will be very close. If you want a slightly stretched look a 215/35/18 will work fine. That is what is on my wife's xB. It is stock height now, but will have no clearance issues even with a huge drop.

If you want a slightly more "squared" tire take a look at your options in a 225/35/18. This is the size we will be switching to when the 215s my wife currently has wear out. Also keep in mind that each different brand and style of tire is likely to give you a slightly different look.

Ok I just ordered 18 Konig unknowns with a +45 offset and will be running 215/40/18 tires. I will have them put on on sat and and the shop says they should not rub the sup in the back put the have spacers there and will make them work I am glad that was over I was driving myself crazy

Your wheels have the same width and offset as my wife's Konigs. If I were you I would get a set of OTG hub spacers for the rear. I know that the tire shop will probably throw some cheap spacers on the back for now to help with clearance, but I would swap over to OTG eventually.

Even if you aren't comfortable with the hub spacer, I would consider swapping whatever spacer they give you (if any) with an OTG wheel spacer.

I found you can put 225/35/18 Toyo Proxy or Nitto 555 tires w/o rubbing and 2" drop Plus get some wheel lip protection because the tire hangs over a bit. No rubbing. Tenzo Mean 6 7.5 wheel. You should not have a problem.

The 225 tire I love, this is the second set on the second XB I have done this to, but only a few mfg make the size...and they are expensive because of the brands you have to go to. Here is a pic of my set up, I am also now selling the wheel set up here because my XB will be gone soon.

question: with the whole offset stuff.... how do you do that? is there a shim that you purchase? or what? i found the spacers, but i can only get them in like 15mm to 30 mm will that be way to much?

As far as my set up 18 Konig unknowns with a +45 offset and will be running 215/40/18 tires I needed to have the tire shop put a 1/4 inch spacer on to mack eveything clear for now!!! When I have the the TRD springs put on I will have the OTG Hub spacers put on and take off the 1/4 one!!!
