Brakes can be a total pain. I have done it on several vehicles, but I avoid it if I can. I have found a reputable shop near me that can actually do a complete brake job on my car for less than it would cost me to buy the parts. Taking a car to the dealership for brake work would probably be my last resort.

Sorry I don't have any specifics on the rear drums for the Scion. The wife's xB only has 15k, so no brake work yet.
