Default Check it out: Cool old school Toyota junkyard finds....

My brother and I took a trip to the local Copher's U-Pull-It to find some parts for his Blazer. We found what he needed, but decided to check out the import section for random finds.

Found a set of nice center caps off a late 70's or early 80's Toyota 4-door of some sort. We then stumble upon an old Toyota pickup for a couple emblems I've been looking for. Lastly, we find a nifty 5-speed emblem of a late 70's Celica.

The center caps (only $15) complement the stainless trim rings (free) from my brother's Blazer. For only $15, these made one hell of a difference on how the car looks. Not sure what to do with the emblems just yet...but the 5-speed emblem is going on the rear hatch of my xB. Thought it was kind of a nifty touch.

Here are the pics:

And here is a quick before the trim rings, center caps, and headlight mod:

These mods cost me a total of $20 and some of my time....but made a HUUUUGE difference in the overall look of the car. Big thanks to my brother to supplying the labor for the headlights and for the free trim rings.

That looks seriously cool! I really like the rings... Did you have to do anything special to get them to stay on? I would like to get myself a set so as to have something good looking when winter comes around. Also, you said that your brother helped you with the headlights... What method did he use to get them apart? Props, again!

The trim rings just pretty much securely snap into place...much like a hubcap does. I'm very pleased how these Chevy Blazer trim rings produce a nice looking, deep lip since many of the aftermarket rings don't seem to go back into the rim quite as far. PLUS these rings are polished stainless steel which is a must if you are going to subject them to salt in the winter.

On the headlights we used the oven method. 10-minutes at 200-degrees to soften them up and pry the lense from the housing.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I guess they are off some year Tercel. They are the third row down, third cap from the left on this page: http://www.hubcaps.org/tercel.html .

After looking at this page, I'm just thrilled I found them for $15 for the set instead of paying $25/each for new caps.

I'm going to second that as well.

It's so nice, I wish I would have not gotten the alloy rims I currently have.
It's so impressive I dreamt about them last night.

(side note: god damn I need to stop spending so much time on scionlife)
