Default Check out my new wheels/tires!

Well it is actually my wife's car....

Today I traded someone my old steelies + hub caps with relatively newer tires (previous owner put the new tires on) for his 17" wheels/tires. The tires are 205 40 17.

This actually puts the speedo 5% off and the total wheel+tire is 1" shorter than stock setup. When these tires wear out I will most likely put 45 series tires on it... then it will only be 1% off... slightly taller than stock.

The wheels/tires are only 800 miles old! Kuhmo Admiral tires (AA Traction rated, Z speed rated- will come in handy when I have my xa up to 170mph ). Not sure how long these will last... I'd be surprised if I get 30,000 miles out of them. They only have a 280 tread rating.

I only paid $150 + gave him my old wheels+tires. He gave me his receipt showing that he paid $700.

What do you think?

I agree. I really wish they were 45 series. My next set of tires definately will be. I can't really complain for the price I paid.

Haha. It is my wife's car. I am not sure if she knows what wheel gap is... so for now it stays!

my wife complained to me today that she felt like the car was pulling... to the left and to the right.

I didn't notice that when I drove it, but I suspect the low profile tires are causing the pulling...

maybe depends on tires...but I would suspect she is noticing that some roads have grooves...tings you notice when going low profile.....

haha its funny how just a set of rims help a car out. that xA went from bland to kind of sporty over night. i like em, and you feel a LOT of changes when you go from stock to low profile.

I just weighed the wheels and tires... 37.6 pounds. I think I read that stock steelies wheels and tires are 36 pounds. I was thinking they would be heavier than stock, but it is pretty much the same.

It was a good trade except that I think the guy took my scion lug wrench. He said he couldn't find it (I know I don't have it). I ended up buying a cheap $9 wrench/socket set from Harbor Freight to keep in the car in case I ever need to change the tire.
