Default CONFUSION about tire pressures

I, being a new owner of an xB--, am confused about the tire pressures on a stock xB Scion---------- The P185/60R Goodyear Eagles that came on it have printed on the tire: maximum tire pressure 44 psi AND on the door pillar it states the cold pressures on the tires should be 29 psi. The car plate on the pillar states that and the Goodyear Stick-on that is also on the pillar states that. 29 p.s.i. What do you people think??? PJRACER[/b]

The pressure rating on the tire is MAX PSI. Where the psi listed on the door pillar is the suggested running pressure. I run my tires at 30psi all around.

^^
Yeah what he said. Just make sure you check the pressure often if temp varies considerably.

do not overinflate your tires. do not run pressure much higherthan recommended. you will make your ride worse and increase risk of tire blowout.

i set mine to 30/31...

For some odd reason, and I don't know why. When I go to the dealership to have my oil change, they fill my tires up with 34 psi... Oh man.

But see, I'm using aftermarket wheels, not the normal stock tires. Oh well, this thread is about to get bumped anyway. I should go there and read the specs on this topic : D

never run a tire at max 44 pressure unless you have a serious load, never have to worry about that on the xB. I run 40 PSI in my tires, the ride is as I like it, pretty smooth, yes, 40 PSI is safe to run, tech here. Im running TOYO spectrums on my car, when the tire were put on the car, they were pressured to 40 PSI. But if your not to sure what to do, its best to stick to the OEM specs

40 psi? woah... That sounds nice, i mean, those are real stiff tires there but... thats a lot. Kind of reminds me of Forza playing around with tire pressure, with out the hassle of my wheels blowing up or comming off

Checked my pressure before driving off the lot...Passenger side 31psi, drivers side 32psi...maybe to compensate for the weight of the driver?

I thought it kind of odd myself.

Im at 32 psi in all 4.

well ,ill have to say the tires can take alot of abuse, they have 33000 miles on them right now, lots of tred still left. traction rating of A and heat of A to, sweet tires. They can take alot of damage, the sidewall on one of my tires has a bad gash, road hazard wont do anything till they leak air. but they still hold up. $285 for all tires mounted and balanced.

obviously---some haven't gotten the point>>>>> I was asking about the stock Goodyear Eagles that come on the car---------not some other brand that you may have installed after purchase>>>> I think I have gotten the message anyway that the suggested 29 psi range is the way to go-----THANKS EVERYONE

After we purchased our RS2, about a week later I checked the tire pressure since the ride seemed...ah rather stiff. All 4 tires were over 50lbs with 2 hitting 54. After adjusting to 30lbs, my buttocks were much happier!

I bought my xB last tuesday Nov.08 and expected the ride to be a bit stiff and I was not disappointed. The stock Goodyears right off the boat were at between 37 and 40psi all the way around. I set them all down to 30psi. Seems a little less harsh. We'll see how it affects the fuel economy. ......C
