Default How do people fit 20's on their xB's?

I've seen many people slap on 20 inch rims on their xB's. I was wondering what do they do to make them fit!!

first off all do a search second of all you only need to trim a little and you dont need to roll the fenders unless your running a drop lower than an inch or lower than the trd drop
you need a 20 by 7.5 inch rim and a 225/30/20 tire bfg makes one but its expensive but nitto is supposed to be coming out with one thats cheaper, its not like you can just slap a 20 on there is some work involved to get it to fit correctly

BIG looks so great!

The Law of Compensation

BIG tall tires rob acceleration power and braking power in direct proportion to the increas in radius

ya give up 12 % of your power to pull and must mash the brake pedal 12% harder to stop. And in severe braking (long downgrades, for instance) the brakes just work -so much harder.

I didnt even think it was possible to fit 20's on...I wouldn't even hurt my xB to even do that!! Slap on some 18's and call it a day!!

Thanks for all the explanations. Do you know of any pics of what people cut and rolled? I was wondering how extreme do people go to put those DUBS on. I used to own a bodydroped Mazda and cut a whole bunch of things. So I was wondering whats to do in my brand new carand if its worth it?

PM krazylowgsx, he can tell you everything you need to know. Here is what his box looked like on 20's with a 2" drop.

Those 20's are for sale by the way.

Here is his box now, switched to 18's because he is going with air ride.

if you want to go low with 20's be prepared to cut some stuff off, in the rear i had to cut the rear of the side skirt and a piece of metal out of the wheel well... remove the plastic mud flap piece...ground a little metal off the trailing arm (i know i could of used shims to avoid this, but i want to tuck hard when i get my bags in...now all of that was just with a 2" drop (Tanabes' df210's) when i put the bags in i have to relocate a bumper bracket...relocate the fuel filler....and prolly gonna just tub the rearend. (might be easier in the long run...) now the front is nothing a 20lb sledge and air hammer wont cure.. if it rubs hit it untill it doesnt rub...with a 2" drop the only problem i have is when my wheels are turned and i hit a bump they hit the fender. all in all i love 20's...had 18's, 17's, 16's,15's,13's and out of everything on any vehicle 20's on an xB are the best! on a side note if i tub the rearend, be prepared to see 22's on a laid out xb! and whoever says it is not possable and cannot be done remember 7, 8 years ago everyone said it was not possable to put 16, 17's on an Astrovan,minitruck...etc... now look how we evolved. now you can see a uni-body dropped Astro van tuckin 22's...

Bruce, if you end up with 22 on your xB, your the man! And i highly doubt you'll find a wheel company out there that make a 22" wheel with a 4x100 lug pattern. have to call up BoydCottington or something.

The 20's really do suck to fit on the rear. I have 3/8" spacers on the rear and still had to cut all kinds of ____ out. The front you CAN use a sludge, but be ready for some soggy ___ carpet on your floor board! What happens is when your hitting away trying to prevent the tires from rubbing, you forget about all the other little things like the tire well and where its welded together. I have talked to 3 other people that have put 20's on thier xB's and they have all had the same problem as i did. just be careful when beating away with a hammer. you might not see the hole right away, but when it rains, and your driving in it, you'll know why the floor is wet. it took me a dam week to figure it out, and then i realized what i did. i tore all the seats, center counsle, and seats out and whatdya know.....
anyways... the easiest fix for this is to just silicone the holes up and your good to go!

I must addmit tho..the 20's did ride better than the 18's i have now. and on my 20x7.5's i used Nitto555 tires 225/35/20.
screw the 30 series......thats asking for a rough ride and a tire tumor!

BTW............ the 20's are for sale! I had a post up for them but all people did was ask how to get them to fit. if your interested in the wheels, PM me. I need to sell them so i can get my AIR RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you dont have to cut anything to fit 20's on an xB they make alot of 20's in 7.5 inch widths with +45 offsets.....no need for cutting and Nitto makes a tire for it....225/30-20 for tuner cars.....

My question is... Why??? I think 20's look OK on an Escalade or some large truck, but look stupid on smaller trucks like an Explorer, but on an xB??? I just went with 17's and they look fine. Why would you want to over size your tires and lose acceleration, turning and braking? 18's look good too, but 20's are a little too big for such a small car.

Don't get mad, it's just my opinion.

I agree. It would be different if they just bolted on, but all the trimming and sledging is for the birds! 18s look just fine and are so much easier.

WHYYYYY???? 20's are waste of $$$...faster gas consumption due to added weight from rims. I'm fine with 17's also and I'm still getting close to 30 MPG. But if it floats your boat then go for it.
