lug nuts

lug nuts
what lug nuts do you guys use on your cars if you have aftermarket wheels? do you keep the stock ones on there or did you get aftermarket ones with locks to prevent theft? also, have any of you with xBs experienced any theft on your box at all?

It also depends on what type of lug nuts your aftermarket wheels are engineered to take - what sort of seating is required.
Personally I've almost always had locking lugs nuts on my machines - just makes me a little more confident that the wheels will be there when I go out in the morning...
(And they've almost always been McGard's, but not from the car dealer.)

I personally like these, they are the rays... And yes they lock.

The shop that mounted my tires and wheels gave me a set of some aluminum tuner lugs that have to be removed with a special key. I still use my stock lugs for racing. You could probably still steal my wheels if you had a similar sized key to hammer onto each lug, but I don't think there is enough room to get any conventional tools on them.

just ordered two sets of these, they are lighter then my rays and have rotational base as not to scratch up my rims......they are pricey, but worth it.

Keep in mind that the quality locks have a number of different keys, and one key doesn't open them all - the lesser quality ones, though...who knows?
(I also don't buy locks from the car dealer - there are, IIRC, only a dozen or so lock cuts in the Toyota Dealer McGard sets, which MIGHT mean that if one has a set from the dealer someone might have a better shot at your wheels and tires. 99% of the Toyota's with locks probably have the ones from their dealer, which means if someone targets Toyota/Lexus/Scion one has a pretty good chance with only a dozen keys. I buy mine elsewhere... I wonder if McGard would provide sets specifically NOT in the Toyota dealer range if asked nicely?)

Am I the only one that feels the Gorilla lug nut key is rather flimsy looking? These came with the wheels I ordered and will use them temporarily until I find some I feel a little more confident in using.
