Default My last hope? ---- PICS!

Alright, so I bought my box and it had Konig Unknowns on it already...

Now, I love to keep my rides pretty clean and the only issue I have currently is my wheels and their wear.

In the picture you can see some scratches or just really stuborn marks on the wheels from where I can assume the previous owner did not want to up keep his wheels.

I have completely free/professional access to DuPont powder coat but before I take that route is there a way to get these knicks off?

I've tried Mothers brand Chrome polish, Noxon polisher etc. etc. and lost of elbow grease...

Now, the more I think about it custom black Uknowns would look pretty cool but before I have to spend the money on dismount and mount and balancing all the wheels I'd say I'd like to give it one more shot to get these puppies back to shiny status!

Thanks

Looks like they will have to be sanded/blasted down and painted/powdered. Some of that looks like salt damage. Did the previous owner run those wheels in the winter?

is all that really worth it? if you can afford it, get your self some new rims, and keep these as a witer set?
if that isn't an option, then deff sandblast, sand, powder coat the unknown

Well I'm going to assume the person before me did have these on during the winter. The box was traded in so I'm not 100% sure of that.

I just bought a Fujita SRI, projectors, some other parts so new wheels aren't an option!

My option seems to be to send these babies out to DuPont then!

Should I keep it simple and go black? My box is BSP.

You're going to need to remove all of the clearcoat, buff the lip and go from there.

to me, black on black is pretty played out by now, but thats my opinion only. you are the one that has to see the wheels every day.
I say, since you have the availability to powder coat them for free, do something off the wall or totally custom that may inspire others to do something different! The style of the unknows lends itself well to a 2 tone, dunno what your options are for free though. get creative with them, many of us can try to photoshop you some color options if you want them - can't photoshop yourself, just provide a good face shot of the rim and ask

The DuPont facility has sand blasting and all the jazz. I ride BMX bikes and I always have them blast and powder coat my frame/parts so everything should be done there in one take.

IH8, what color would you play on BSP?

I don't think I can two-tone, I like solid color though.

Black on black is hard to go wrong with but I guess I might as well experiment if I'm not blowing $ on the process.

hahaha

It was green with gold flake... Its currently red primer...

That is a good idea though if it was a diff color.

I'll get a pic up after work if anyone wants to help with the photoshop!

get some pix up and let us play with some colors...
i dunno what your color options are for powder coat, but me personally i would go to bronze / gold wheels on black, then again, i am knutty... depending on your interior scheme, i have seen some nice red/black wheel combos, or even black/blue.. if you are unable to 2 tone i would try some diff color, you can always re-sandblast and coat easily and free if you dont like it
wish i had free access to powder coat, everything metal i own would be coated!!!
can you list up the color options that you have avail to you?
would be good to know if your options are black, white, red, i wont recomend purple or something!

The color options are pretty much endless since he can mix anything.

Matter of fact, he has a SM box, he's Ilovemybox on the board, and he got one of EZ's box keychains and he powder coated it SM to match haha.

Here are the best pic's I could get up, I meant to take some right after work but my Fujita arrived today and I couldn't wait to install it!

Slightly better pics!

Bronze? Darker Orange, or the Fujita shade of Orange, Burgandy?

Throw some at me if you guys want, I have another wheel that is a knock off of the Unknown that we're gonna experiment with so I can go at it till we come up with something I like!

Thanks everyone who is willing to 'shop my wheels

Well, we went ahead and tried flat black on a spare knock-off unknown look-a-like I had.

Quality will be better this was just a quick shoot to give us an example of what it could look like.

I think I'm gonna go ahead with the flat black unless someone can photoshop me a bronze...
