Heck, I'd be plenty happy to see more pics of them not on the box. Closeups would be cool, if you can manage them.

I'm supposed to look at new digicams this week. Hopefully I'll get pics soon.

Anyone have any good ideas as to replacing the centercaps? I e-mailed Mackin Industries, the importer of Rays wheels, but haven't heard back. Otherwise, I'm looking to machine shops to replicate centercaps. However, because I only need four, the price is going to be pretty steep.

Any bright ideas? The current ones are pretty rough.

Well, I torqued down all the bolts last night, and unfortunately out of 116 bolts, four snapped while tightening them. So, now I need to find a place that has some similar bolts. They're basically button-head bolts with no hex in the head. They're 20mmx6mm; might be difficult to find.

It looks like a local place an import brand-new replacement centercaps for the wheels! I'm going to order them this week. Hopefully it doesn't take months to get them ...

Do the regular centercaps look that bad on the freshly polished centers?

Unfortunately, whenever you buy a set of old school wheels, they're going to need some work. However, they almost always turn out to be greater than you intended and are worth every penny.

I'm looking forward to seeing them on the box.

The centercaps look terrible on the polished wheels. Some are better than others. One has a nice, big scratch across the entire face in addition to the fading. Plus, the red ring has broken off in several places. They might work temporarily, though.

I ordered the centercaps yesterday. The shop estimated two weeks on the centercaps.

I talked to a wheel shop who said the bolts that hold the two pieces together needed to be torqued down to 20 ft. lbs. (I had them torqued to 40 ft. lbs. which is why I snapped a few bolts). Anyway, they've been backed off, and the bolts are at 20 ft. lbs. now. They've ready to have tires mounted; I just need to get the centercaps to get these done!

... waiting patiently.

Two weeks isn't bad at all for something being imported. I bet the wait must be absolutely dreadful.

Well, I've had them for nearly four months now; I think I can wait two more weeks, but you're right: they sit in my living room and stare at me! I can't wait to get these on. I could have the tires swapped on there now, but I don't want to run them without the caps on because it doesn't look so good.

Well, still waiting on the centercaps.

The shop I'm dealing with says that Mackin Industries actually has a set of these centercaps in one of their U.S. warehouses. However, they're not sure which warehouse it is or something. So basically, I'm waiting on somone to find them and ship them out here. It's an agonizing wait!

I highly recommend buying all new bolts to attach the two pieces. They could all be rusty and cracked, and a few breaking at once could cause major damage. Think of new bolts as an insurance policy.

It wouldn't hurt to have everything dye-penned to check for cracks.

Well, the reason four of them broke was because I was over torquing them. I brought them back down to 20 ft.lbs. and they were fine (none broke). I talked to a wheel specialist around here (all he does is repair wheels), and he said if they were going to break, they'd break at 20 ft./lbs. when retorquing and none did. The bolts are not rusy at all. The nuts have some surface rust, but that's it.

What is dye-penning? I've never heard of that.

Well, I just got word that the centercaps have come in. I'll pick 'em up tonight, hopefully I'll have them on tomorrow. If not, next week for sure.
