Default Noisy Bridgestone Potenza RE92 Tires

I just got a 2005 xA Monday. At highway speed of 55 to 65 these tires are very noisy. This is not reflected in the Tire Rack tests. Tire Rack reported tread noise as "moderate". Can I expect any lessening of tread noise of this tire as it accumulates mileage? What would be the quietest AS tire for this vehicle in standard 185/60-15 size? Must one go to a highway tread instead of AS tread to get quiet tires? I am not acquainted with current tire standards for cars. I just put the cheap Wal Mart specials on my old Metro and they were quiet tires.

If you want quiet, something like the Michelin Energy are quiet, but I don't like them. I didn't like the RE92's either... I had them on my Eclipse. The Bridgestone Turanzas are good handling all season tires and they're not too loud, but I've only experienced those on a Maxima SE which is a lot more quiet than a Scion.

I really like the Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S. They have good performance all around, so those are the ones I stand by now...

I've been shopping around for tires, and I've read really good things about Falken Azenis ST115. I have no real experience with them, but they're supposedly so quiet that they're marketed towards audiophiles. Very reasonable prices too.

The RE-92's are currently posting a noise rating of 6.3 out of a possible 10.0 on our customer survey's, which equates to average at best. Unfortunately, there are not many tires available to choose from in the O.E. size. I have posted them below for your review along with their survey results. If you would consider switching tire sizes, you could also select a tire from one of the following sizes - 195/55-15 - 205/55-15 - 215/50-15.

Tires Available In Your O. E. Size
Tire Name / Noise Rating

Passenger All-Season Tires
P185/60R15 MI HARMONY / 8.4

Touring All-Season Tires
P185/60TR15 GY EAG LS / 6.3

Performance All-Season Tires
185/60R15 BS POZ RE92 / 6.3
P185/60TR15 GY EAG RS-A 6.3
