Off set question

u need to lower the offset to make it stick out more.
if u're runing a 7.5" width rim, u can EASILY take anything as low as +20 without a problem. and as for a 8" wide rim, u can take +25 safely as well.
it will create a more flush look.
many people run the honda/acura offset(38-44) and thats kinda hi... it sticks weigh in..

I am trying to keep the same if not better clearance for the inner wheel well from 215.45.17...hmm

If you run a 20mm offset and a 7.5" rim, I would think that you will have rubbing. I'm rubbing the rear fender with a 7" rim and a 20 mm offset. The wheel will fit, but the rear fender in these cases may need to be modified by rolling or grinding to make room for the suspension movement. The rear suspension is non-indepenent and basically has no camber to the movement (moves up and down). This makes the tire run into the fender. I think most people will be a lot happier if they stick to a 25 mm offset max. with a 7" rim, ~30mm with a 7.5 and ~35mm with a 8". I'm not saying you can't go further out, it just requires more work.

And the off set value are in millimeter right?

Re: Off set question
what kinda look are you going for hutdamnit? what kinda fender mods are you willin to do hutdamnit? and lastly what size wheels are you using hutdamnit?
215.45.17.... but 50 would be great if fit...

Do you plan on lowering? Do you know what width of wheel? Most 17" wheels are 7" wide and if that is the case my recommendations stand. I know a Kumho 215/45/17 on a 7" rim rubs the fender in the rear with Tein lowering springs and a 20 mm offset. It will be super close with a 25 mm offset. If you don't want to do any fender mods, and you want the front and back to look even as well as flush, go with the 35mm front, 25 mm rear set up with these tires. You may ne able to go lower offset in the front, but the track in already 25 mm greater in the front so the wheels won't be "evenly flush" if you go with a lower offset in front.

As for the wheel size, undetermin yet. (Which ever works)
As for the look... That Audi looks. I love how it fills out the wheel well.. i wonder how they do that... so tight (fitment) yet no rub.. like that blue S4 Avent i saw the other day outside the dealer ship. Tiiiight. :D

Remember, an XB does not have Audi rear suspension. An Audi has rear independent suspension that tilts the wheel into the wheel well (camber) when you hit a bump. Unfortunately, the XB does not have independent or wishbone type suspension so the wheels essentially go up and down. At 25 mm rear offset, the look is Audi like.....

ive seen a 7.5" wide rim with a +30 offset in the rear. theres still at least another inch or MORE of room to play with...
i doubt it will serve that much of a problem. a +20 rub? what kinda rim are u running?
i didn't know it would but its good to inform us all.
can u show us a closeup of the rim/fender

more offset debate and a good pic of 17x7 + 25. Assuming you like that look, you can use an offset calculator to figure out what offset you'd need for the same look with a wider wheel.

rolling on a 7" wide rim with a 215 series tire is kinda bulgy no?
if you run a 7,5 or 8" wide rim with a 215 it'll be stretchy.. maybe just enuff to clear rubing?
cuz i persoanlly know that 205 on a 7" rim is PERFECT. but 215 on a 7" would be a lil poofy
