I just found out that the exact wheels I want are a stock 2004-2005 Mini Cooper wheel - the "Seven hole 15x5.5 light alloy." (Only 12 pounds as opposed to the stock steelie w/ wheel cover's 18 pounds!) They are a +45 offset, which I think is about right. I need to find the thread again about fitting Mini wheels on a Scion...
Of course, being OEM Mini they are way overpriced. *sigh*

It's a bit -strange- that the holes in the wheel and the holes in the cover bear no coorelation in number or even-show through.
However, I am enjoying the yellow peek-through of color and steel holes. I'll do the rest of the wheels this way next week.
Tomas, that significantly reduced unspring weight of the Mini wheel appeals. Don't you suppose you might find a used set on eBay or someplace? Lots of people ditch stock wheels.. so there must be many of these languishing in Mini owners' garages
i'll put up some more pictures of this yellow steel wheel and bB cover. Yesterday around five o'clock the car was parked alongside US1 at the AutoZone store. I went across the highway to West Marine. Viewed from a distance the wheel looked even better to me: that yellow shows jsut right and makes the wheels look sunny but not clowny. For me, my own taste it's a just the right touch. It lightens the wheels
Looking forward next to dropping this car on Tein S springs.
So it goes. Life is good lately. Post me a PM if you find Mini wheels and if you make a thread about them.

Yeah, it's hard to really judge the appeal of the yellow 'show-through' from only the one pic, SciFly. I look forward to some more pics once you get all the wheels painted.
It's nice to see something other than all these spidery complex alloys that are so popular right now.
In thinking about it, the Solar Yellow may be the only color that would look decent with body-color wheels behind the covers. I don't think any of the other colors could pull that off.

Am pretty tired of the usual sliver painted alloy wheels, as most of you guys are, too.
The Mini wheels are just -different- enough and very trim looking plus- that major reduction in unsprung weight is so nice.
A flatbed just now picked up Ray's old '86 caddy for a charity auction. The driver had another car on his flatbed: a late model Mazda 6.
I'll imageshack the picture taken just a few minutes ago and show you guys what you've probably seen before.
No wheel would survive this kind of impact. But only cast alloy would fail in such devastating fashion. The airbags did deploy. The wheel did shatter, though. I hate that thought: If I were to strike a curb headon at some speed a cast alloy wheel is likely to just....

SciFly, when I was heavily into off-roading I always ran on steel wheels - they would bend rather than exploding when overstressed. They were heavy, but safer for some uses.
The only alloy wheel I've ever 'lost' to failure was on an Accord that was stolen and run into something. About a quarter of the wheel was broken off (and that style was discontinued...).
Steel wheels flex, alloy wheels are rigid. When overstressed one bends, the other shatters. I've driven on some VERY bent wheels before...

Superjeer, they mounted 'Mini wheels' (17's?) but not those Mini wheels.
The actual spec for the stock steelies on the xB, which are the same diameter and width as these
Mini wheels, is a 38mm offset, so something close to a 10mm spacer would get it back to where it
belongs. Of course a 10mm spacer would likely require longer studs... *sigh*
Too bad no one appears to make a similar aftermarket wheel with exact fit.
