Why not stretch a 195/50 or 165/50?

There's no need to when you have camber

Well I thought stretching smaller tires would give like a 20 series side profile look.

well, there would be more wheel/fender gap then he might have wanted.

I'm all for individual taste and opinion- but seriously, what makes that appealing? Not only is that dangerous, it adversly affects handling and has got to just kill the lifespan of the tire.. I mean if you dig it, cool... I just can't feel it.... On the other hand I really like the work rollers...

Not hatin', just not feelin it.

i'm an all fan for stretch but i'd like to see those rims after a month or two of hawaii road driving.... but i suppose it wouldn't be too much of a problem since the higher up's in the state are saying "we're winning the war on potholes". LOL

they repaved a road in hi kai a little while ago, but instead of filling the potholes first, they just went over them. guess what? same potholes coming back.

i got the 5x8's....the 205 are a bit stretched...but yes...gotta be careful...there is absolutely no protection for the lip...as demonstrated by last months visit to longo where they damaged one of the rims but driving too near a speed bump.

But with the 205 and the 8 inch witdh....handling is better. If it wasn't, i don't think all the drifters would be doing it, which they do.

But you gotta really be careful when driving around obstacles and stuff...even driveways, if taken too fast, may potentially damage the rim.

handling is affected in the way that steering feel/input will be sharper. turn-in will be more instaneous then a non-stretched tire. you'll "feel" the road a bit more but a stretched tire is less forgiving at it's limits (higher speeds or aggressive turning) so making corrections will be harder or in some cases impossible after you've passed a certain point. you'll be more concerned with things like this with spirited driving/racing then just regular driving.

drift cars like to use this setup because of the style, the look it gives off and the fact you can stuff more wheel/tire under the fender. not so much about the performance side of things.
