Default Question About Centerrings

Hey I just got some 18"5Zigen Hyper 5ZR's and its lowered on the tanabe df210's and once I hit about 80, my steering wheel starts to vibrate mass and it just generally feels like the car is out of control. It also feels like the front tires are getting no grip at all (even at normal speeds) compared to stock and I know the tires are better quality. I read something about center rings or something like that, but i wasnt positive about what they are and how much they do. I also just got my car fully aligned so thats not an issue either.... anybody know what could be causing this??

hubcentric rings allow the center hole of the rim to match the size of the protrusion on the hubs of your car. they fit into the center hole of the rim. basically they serve the purpose of 1) making the hub center(not the lug nut studs) bear the weight of the car and 2) allow for easy centering of the wheel on the hub. Without hubcentric rings it is possible to mount the wheels on the car crooked since the wheel gets centered by the lug nuts, not the hub, and that might be the cause of your vibration.

RogerTTR can prolly clear this up but I believe that all new tires need a bit of a wear in period before they start really sticking(something about the outer layer of rubber being impregnated with oils). That would explain the loss of grip feeling, as for vibration it could be they are not balanced correctly

It sounds like you need hubcentric rings to me, too. Find out what the size of the centerbore is on your new wheels. The xB has a 54.1mm Find out your wheel specs (i couldn't find it online) and call your local goodyear or Les Schwab and tell them you need 54.1 to XX.xx hubcentric rings... I think I paid around 25 or so for a set...
