Default Stock Steelies and wide tires

Hey guys,
I'm looking at replacing my stock tires with something wider and more performance-directed... How wide of a tire can i go with the steelies??

Thanks!

Cya

205-55 will keep about the same diameter, but put more meat on the road, and can mount on the stock rims.

205 isn't the widest, your car comes with 215's, he was just giving an example. I wouldn't go any wider than 225s on the stock rims...

205-55 is what I am aiming for after the OEM tires wear out. I drive pretty consertive most of the time with wife in car, so I am afraid that the OEM's may last 50K, and I have 16 K now, so it may be a while. Normally don't wish a tire would wear out, but I do now. I believe they would look great on the car. Also, keep in mind that 205 of different brands have different tread widths. I was amazed that my Mom's car has 195's on it, and they look very meaty compaired to mine, but them are a different brand. So just see what is out there in the 205-55, and you can get meaty on the stock steelies.
