I have a 17 inch rims with 205/40/17 Falken tires, I am buying new tires does any one know if I get 215/40/17 BF Goodrich G-Force tires instead of 205/40/17 will it rub or my 04’ XB is safe?

A 215.40.17 should fit ok on your car.
Here's a link to 17" tire options for your xB:

... Just to make sure, check the offset of your wheels, if it is 40mm or less you should be ok. If it is 40mm or more you might rub a little at full lock when turning right and left.
In the case that it is more than a 40mm offset look at the 205.45.17 tire size instead.
