Default Tire pressure warning light!!!

So i was driving on the freeway yesterday and I noticed my tire pressure warning light came on. i got home, and it was still on. i didnt know what to do, so i pressed that "set" button in the glove compartment. the light went away so i didnt think it was a big deal.

the light came on again today, so as soon as i got home i checked the tire pressure on all my tires. they were all around 40-somthing. so i hit the "set" button again in the glove compartment and the light went away.

now my question is that is this a big deal? should i take it to the dealer? or should i just ignore it? I got my car lowered with trd springs a week ago, so i dont know if that makes a difference? so please, any feedback would be great!

wat you shoud do is before you drive 2morrow, check your tire pressure because its stated that you should only check your tire pressure if u know the air in your tires is cold.

fronts are 32 psi and rears are 29. rated by toyota.

tat jus means to work around those #'s not always to go by them but if u have stock tires. i suggest u go by them.

set ur tire pressur eto that then reset ur tire pressure warning thing

It is not dangerous to drive on low tire pressure. However, your MPG will suffer as well as the life of your tires.

When checking your tire pressure, do so in the morning before you have driven as once your car is on the road, the tires will heat up and give a higher PSI reading. The recommended PSI is for "cold" tires.

exactly what he said, above, when tires are cold and hot, the pressure is actually a bit different, so give it a check, if u got a pump ur self at home that's great, and pump it on a flat surface area

Please read your manual for the recommended tire pressure. If your pressure readings are in accordance with Toyota's recommendation and your warning light comes on again, take it to the dealer for reinitialization or warranty replacement. You probably have a faulty sensor.

Yes, after checking your cold tire air pressure to make sure they are 32psi in the front and 29psi in the rear, you should reset the light.

To do this:
- turn your key to the "on" position
- press & hold the reset button while watching your instrument panel
- the tire pressure light will blink 3 times
- let off the button, then proceed to drive for the recommended time/mileage in your owner's manual (supposedly 10 miles is enough)

it is actually more dangerous I heard to drive on tires with low air pressure, that is how you get a blow out.

ok, i figured out what was causing the light to go on. I got the TRD springs installed and i guess when the guy was putting the wheels back on the car, he put one of the front wheels in the rear instead.
how I know this is because one of my tires is a bridgestone and the others are yokohamas. Well the Bridgestone used to be in the front and now its in the back.

the light came on again today. im just ignoring it. im too lazy to do anything about it. i doubt my tire will blow. *knocks on wood*

Yes, do what SassyScion says and consult your manual! There are instructions in there on how to reset the tire pressure warning sensor (not just hit the reset button). The sensor doesn't care whether you run your tires at 20 psi or 50 psi - you just have to "baseline" it and then it will notice any significant change from your baseline.

if you know a bit about cars save the trip to the dealer cuz they will do the same thing. just be sure that all the tire air pressure is all to spec. according to rims and tires that u may have added. (cuz im sure most of you may not have the stock rims on) then refer to above^^ its reccomended for about an hour but i would get on the highway and drive for about 30 or more. espically if u dropped yours. well thats what worked for me...

If you are running aftermarket wheels and they did not move the sensor over from your stock wheels it will keep coming on.

Hold the SET button til the light goes off. When it does, hold it again until it flashes 3 times. ;-) That should take care of it coming back on.
