The shop that did mounting rolled the fenders, but after looking at some pics on here I'm not sure they did that thorough of a job of it. The lip doesn't looked to be rolled up as flat as what a lot of you guys have and that edge is what hit the sidewall. One side just scuffed the rubber a little, the other sliced long and fairly deep cuts in it and I don't feel that it'd be safe to drive on it more than necessary to get it replaced.
I used a heat gun and a baseball bat, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but it was a little worrisome. I wish I could fold the whole thing up, OR, saw the damn edge out of there, it would clear up at least 4mm which is a lot.

I want low offset, like you have, but I've always like the Konig Feathers, which are only 38offset, but gold 17's would set my car off nicely. I like big gaps in the spokes, so the car floats when it's moving.

Here's a shot of the cut, it goes about 1/3 of the way around the tire. After taking a closer look at the fenders, they are definitely just half-assed. They're pushed up a little ways but no where near what I've seen on here. The lip might be pushed up 45* from horizontal, but I'm gonna guess less. Looks to be just the right angle to do more damage than if it were still straight.

I would jack the back up slightly and get a baseball bat in there after heating the fender up a lot. It cools down so fast.

Wow mono... get some of those silicon spring helpers for the time being... at least until you can fold that edge inward.

I rolled them today with a heat gun and a bat. Way easier than I thought it would be, and I was right - the shop didn't do ____ as far as rolling them went. I'm gonna print the pictures out and take them to the shop. Might not get anything out of it, but you never know. They seem like a nice enough place, at least the manager would know that that one of his guys is doing crap work.

Now that's f'n rolled. Seriously though, tell the shop and make sure the manager is aware. If you still have the ticket from when they were rolled, that will help. Also, mask and coat that... otherwise you will start seeing rust develop over time.

It'll be several days before I can get to it again, but I'll be sure to do that. It was kinda funny, one pass with the bat did way more than what they had done with the tool. I didn't realize there was a rubbery strip there, it started wadding up and making a squealing sound before I scraped it off. I only had a couple of very small places on the edge where the paint chipped, and one of those was from the bat slipping out.

To anyone thinking about doing this, go ahead. It's not that hard and as long as you're careful and take your time you shouldn't damage your car.

What should it be coated with?
My rubber strip is all jacked up from doing this.

I masked off thoroughly and used a spray on undercoat.

Well, the shop refunded the money charged for the "roll" without issue, but wouldn't replace the tire. That's better than nothing I guess. They said that's all they usually do because most people don't need as much clearance as I did, and I should have said I wanted it rolled all the way and checked before I left. My arguement was that I've never seen rolling referred to as anything other than what I needed, I don't see how pusing it up so little could be of any benifit to anyone. The shop was polite, didn't get indignant and gave me a refund so I can't find too much fault with them.

Sucks that your fender-roll was all effed up. I agree that it was probably worse than doing nothing at all, especially since you only have 15x7s.

My rear 15x8s (0 camber, 195-60/15s) rub some (hard corners or people in the back seat, basically; it's really not that bad), but the non-rolled rear fenders just sort of hit the shoulder of the tread, so the tire damage has been minimal. I'm going to have to roll (I do want to go lower than my TRD springs), and probably get camber shims eventually, but in the meantime, it's not horrible.

Quick question. It doesn't look like you're lowered in these pics. What suspension are you running?

I'm seriously considering getting these rims but I'm debating between 15x7 or 15x8. I'm not planning on lowering my car due to driving long distances.

In the close-ups the car is jacked up some. In the last pic is how it sits now. I'm on Tanabe DF210s, Echo struts and 195/50-15 tires (.6" shorter than stock) - my front lip is ~4" off the ground. I would recommend the 15x7" +15 because the 8" in the front will poke out past the fender, unless you're into that kind of look. There also might be rubbing issues in the rear with the 8" unless you rolled your fenders. I'm running the 15x7 +15 with a 10mm hub spacer and that would be about the same as the 15x8 +15 without a spacer if I figured correctly. Not being lowered would lessen that risk, but it still might.

You might consider one of the springs that does a slight drop, such as the ones from TRD or the Tein H-Tech. Both only drop ~1", but I've heard the TRD ones are pretty stiff. I had the H-Techs on for a while three years ago before I went lower... then lower. They're still sitting in a closet, I really should post them up for sale.

I thought about getting the Tein H tech springs but I've had bad experiences with them in the past. If you daily those springs, eventually they'll rust.

I don't think I'll lower the car at all.

Thanks again for the help.

So far I've ran 3 different sets of springs, and every one of them has been more comfortable than the stock springs. The further I drive, the happier I am that I am lowered. Except when the opossums go *thump*thump*thump*thump* when they used to go *thump*. That's kinda ew.
