Default What is Hubcentric?

Can someone explain what hubcentric means? Will I need to get hubcentric rings to fit alloy wheels on my xb. Here's a link for the wheels I am getting. Will they just bolt right on out of the box, are they hubcentric?
http://www.enkei.com/RacingSeriesSpecs/RPF1.html

Apparently Enkei is out of the RPF1 16x7's for a couple of months, but the 16x8's are available now. I was all set to get the 16x7's with 205/50 tires, but since the 16x7's are on major back order I have more time to think about it........... Will the ride be any different between the 16x7 and 16x8's. or just looks........

Hubcentric rings are designed to fill in the gap between the hub of the car and the center bore of the wheel. Most wheel manufacturers design their wheels with a center bore large enough to fit on most cars. Therefore, since wheel manufacturers make their center bore large enough to fit most cars, most wheel fitments have a gap between the hub and the center bore. This gap usually doesn't allow for the wheel to fit hubcentric but rather "lugcentric" which causes vibration. Therefore, to fill the gap and ensure the fitment is hubcentric, hub rings are used.
Vibration can come from the studs being load bearing instead of the hub being load bearing.

I wouldn't know if the specific wheels you want to purchase need rings. The seller should be familiar with the product enough to tell you that.

I'd bet the stock spare is hubcentric. You could run out and get a quick measurement in mm.

best case scenario is all wheels are hubcentric because lugcentric wheels "may" vibrate. This is because the load is on the lugs instead of the lugs and hubs together. I'm assuming both front and rear hubs are the same diameter for wheel purposes or the spare would only be hubcentric on one. I assume toyota thought ahead enough to have the spare be safe on all four hubs.

The reason some folk use different spacers on the front and rear is not generally because of different hub diameter, but because the wheels may be farther in or out of the well.

okay, I just found out that the center bore for the scion xb hub is 54.1mm. The bore for the Enkei RPF1 is 73mm, so I take it I will need hubcentric rings: 73/54. I wonder if my current stock rims have them or will I need to order the rings along with the new rims? I currently have the optional 15x6 alloy seven spoke xb rims.

You will need hubcentric rings... the factory alloys do not come with rings.

No, no! The additional detail, complete with illustrations, was fabulous. All of it.

Are you buying your tires from a different source than the wheels?

If you buy a tire and wheel “bundle” package the rings are normally part of the installation hardware (valve stems, lug nuts, hub centric rings).

I bought my tires and wheel online, through a company that advertises on scionlife, and they didn’t send the hub centric rings with the shipment of tires and wheels. They promised to “overnight” them to me. It was a friggen full week before they actually came.

Yeah, I ordered my wheels from "the tire rack" and they said that the rings would be included with the shipment. They should be arriving today, via fedex....I'll post pics asap!
I decided to go with The Borbet Design BS (or Type S) 16x7.5 and 205/50 tires:

Hope everything arrives fine.
Check the tire pressures after you get em on. Mine were all over the map, 30 psi up to 45 psi.
