Default WTF ..... Pitted wheels?

Ok, its been about 3 weeks since i last had my car washed. It has snowed or some kind of frozen precip has fallen from the sky here at least once a week. So i go all out and get the top of the line detail done. After all is said and done, and i reapply a coat of tire shine to my box, i notice that my front wheels are pitted. WTF? And its only the fronts! My best guess would be that the heat from the brakes had some affect on the polished lip and the road salt that was on them.

Anyone know of a fix for this problem? Im thinking that i will have to purchase a buffing wheel of some sorts and basically take the finish down to remove the pit marks. Damnit, and i like these wheels too.

That's bad news bro. That's why I never run aftermarket wheels in the winter. I don't think there is a fix for that

is the lip clear coated? hopefully its only in the clearcoat, you can strip that and clearcoat it again. if not, depending on how deep the pit is, yo can polish it.

Sorry for the delay.

I should have listened to others here, and now i will in the future. If i had a digi camera, i would take the pics, and post em, but alias ... i dont own one yet. The X got that in the divorce.

The pitting looks like it is in the Clear Coat. Not that deep, actually it looks like it just through the clear coat. I was impressed that there is actually a coat of clear on the wheels. Hummmm

I may actually use something like steel wool and some elbo grease to see where it gets me. Anyone have any suggestions as to what i can use to remove the clear coat? I would have to be really careful, as to not remove the silver painted part of the inner wheel.

Damnit.

what my friend did is mask the part he dont want stripped, then he brushed some paint remover and left it few hours, then rinse with water. did it again a few times til all clear coat were gone.
then he polished it, its much more shinier than orig. but he has to polish it every now and then. then he decided to re-clear coat it.
