XB: 16 Wheels On 40 Series Tires ?

No pics. Max allowable as per the link below is 215.

But 40 series is really low. You'll need 245(wide) 40 series tires to compensate from the stock 185x60x15 tires (as per http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html). You will get some rubbing issues because it's too wide (245).

Because 40 series refers to the aspect ratio in percentage of width you would need a 245/40 to have the same 23.7' overall heigt of the stock wheel/tire. a 205/40 or 215/40 would much shorter overall.
