Has anyone put 17's on there xB with no springs? If so, got a pic?, does it look crappy, and should I go with 18's? Need help cuz I'll be purchasing some rims soon and this could help cuz I dont want to lower it and void warranties and ruin my suspension! Thanks

stock height.

does not look too bad .

tire size = 215/45/17

fyi TRD springs + shocks + struts will not void your warrenty and will only imporve your suspension.

No Drop = look crappy? Nah...

Just depends on the look you want. I wanted a smoother ride and chose to upgrade my springs to H-techs. It just so happens to give a very modest 1" drop overall and it's perfect for me. I'm still rolling on stock steelies for the moment.

The stock wheel well gap has never bothered me before. I tend to prefer ride quality over look or performance. This is my daily driver, so I don't want to make my week any harder than it is sometimes.

When you finally decide on rims, suspension, etc., it's good to set priorities and do what's best for you (e.g. Performance > Appearance > Ride quality > etc.) When it comes down to it, do what works for you.

Good luck!

and in the long run if i'd get springs with 17's, all my suspension would be ruined right? or does that take years? My daily routine is driving to work which is like 2 miles away, the farthest I travel is probably 20 miles away from home. So I dont know how much time til my suspension starts getting bad or is that only if you use cheap springs? Oh and also like I said before I was considering 18's but some people at work told me that if I get 18's or 17s im going to need to get my computer in my car fixed to my bigger rims? true or false, and how much does it cost? Just need help before I go out n buy rims, thanks guys!

the xB's don't look bad with 17s and no springs, but they do look better with them.

if you don't want a big drop go with some H-techs or TRDs, plus they should make the ride better too

Default Wheel gap

In my opinion you should always lower a car, even if you're not getting new wheels. I just think it looks better. The first thing I did to my xB was lower it...Now, I have 16 inch wheels and I think it looks great. I've seen quite a few xB's rolling around town that have 17 and 18 inch wheels and aren't lowered and I think it just looks silly. Nothing worse than wheel gap, no matter what kind of car it is!! Plus, I've always been told to mod your suspension before buying wheels.
Also as long as you don't change the overall deminsion's of your wheel set up you don't need to mess with your ecu. The ecu will only get screwed up if the overall deminsion is changed a lot. For example the stock wheels with the stock tires is equal to a 16 inch wheel with a tire profile of 55.

before lowering ^

after lowering ^

IMO it does look kinda funny without lowering. you dont have to drop it a ton, the TRDs would work fine for ya. im on Tanabe DF210s which drop it the most without going to coilovers. it makes it look like a whole new car! if money is the issue, i understand. but if its just warranty, then screw it and get it dropped
it makes driving so much better when its lowered. yea, its bumpier, but handling is a godsend i understand your worries though. either way, i cant wait to see what you come up with :D

what about ruining your suspension though? Or is that just a myth, heard it ruins more than just your shocks like some have said on here. Just wondering cuz I want to drop it with 17's more than anything I just dont want to be ruining everything that is connected with my suspension, if someone has an answer for this please answer asap. Cuz I have my eye on some tein springs for 159 at a local shop taht I dont want to pass up. also will it rub with 17's with a 1.5 in drop? Thanks a lot guys, sorry for all the questions!

it does ruin it but thats in the long run... if u dont want it to "ruin" just get coilovers then... and no they dont drop... the only rims that rub if you drop it are 20s... i think even slamed there is less than 1mm of free space

I have 18's on 225/40/18 tires and it looks fine IMO. Plus, the suspension is soft and cushy, I never worry about dips, driveways or speed bumps. I love it.

I might rock TRD's one day, but that's about it.
