Default Xb. Widest 15 inch wheel with stock tire.

Hello.

Just wondering how wide I can go using my stock tires. And what offset should I get. I want to be flush, not sticking out. Any advice?

Thanks!

15x8 is probably the widest you can go w/o some stretching...

The ideal offset (to not stick out) would be et10-20. Hard to find tho...

Thanks. Using the stock tire? It will stretch a little, right?

Per the tire specs, the manufacturer says that the acceptable rim width range for the Goodyear Eagle LS 185/60R15 is 5-7 inches.

Yes you can physically do it but why? Not to mention it looks dumb as he11. If you are determined to reuse the factory tires get some 15X6.5 or 15X7 wheels with around 20 to 30 mm offset. they will sit out enough to look right. You'll still need the 10mm OTG hub spacers for the rear tho to help even the rears with the fronts.

Thanks jethro_b. That's a good point.

One more thing. How the car will look or perform when I upgrade to wider tires? Like 205/55/15 later on.

If I get per say +20 offset and reuse the stock tires for a while, getting later wider tires, they won't stick out further, don't they?

I'd like to get all-seasons/winter tires put on my stock steelies here in a few months and then keep the stock tires in storage to put on a 15x7 wheel come spring time ;)

That sounds like a very good plan. I use my stockers for winter duty and they are very good in deep snow. Never got stuck even while going through 6 inches.

The problem with me, it's that this is my only ride, and I carry my children in it. I can't afford to sets and I want to make the ride as comfortable as possible.

You should be fine running the stock tires on an 8 inch wide wheel. the only problem I see is that the tire would stretch a bit giving you more wheel gap. A stretched tire set up usually requires more lowering of the vehicle to look right. For your purposes, I'd stick with a 7 inch wide wheel and run the same offset all the way around. Run the One Ton Garage shims in the rear to give you a more flush look. This will allow you to rotate tires regularly. For my tastes I'd go with the Tein S-Tech springs as well as this will give you about a 2 inch drop and maintain a comfortable ride -- even on stock struts/shocks. This is the same as my set-up and I love it! And you saw pics of my ride in the other thread. Judge for yourself.

Perfect set up for you would be tha TRD or H tech springs for about an inch of drop with the 5987 rear monroe shocks to smooth out the harsh factory ride. The OTG rear spacers and some nice 15X6.5 or 7 wheels with the stock tires. These will give you about 35 to 40K carefree miles as long as you keep them properly inflated to 30 - 32 psi and rotated every 6-7K miles.

I've got the Monroe shocks this week. This is the first upgrade I'll do to my box. Then, the wheels, the shims and later the drop. I think the car will look just right once I get wider tires, like 205/55 or 60.
