Default Black Tape Around Window, Need Pics Please!

Jethrwo_b said in another post...

Then peel that black tape off around the window frames to reveal the nice body paint underneath.
WOW, I didn't even know that was tape! I ran out to check and sure as shat, it was. I was wondering why my TCM car didn't have paint there while our black one did.

So I'm sooo tempted to take this off and have my offical first mod but am unsure of what this will look like. If you happen to have a picture of your's like this and it just happens to be uploaded, would you please post it for me? Especially if you have the TCM car.

Thanks sooo much in advance if you can help me visualize what this would look like.

Thanks a billion for the pictures and being so quick to post them. I only took so long replying because I was dialuping up the WA show post before I smarted up and just opened up that one particular picture.

I'm undecided if I like that look or not. I hope some more pictures surface too so I can make up my mind, lol.

I should really check out the PNW (Pacific Northwest, right?) section more often. Someday I'll force my husband to do a meetup with me, lol.

I hafto admit, I never really looked at an xB that close before, but by some odd chance, is the tC like this too? I always find fingerprints on the black part from people closing the door there.

hmm... not sure... if it does... the then BSP tC doesnt have tape.. and the rest would.... should be easy to tell if you look closely on the outside.. or inside upper corner, under the rubber surround

that is cool to know, but makes you wonder why they covered with tape in the first place.

kkawana, thanks again! I think I do like the tapeless TCM! I'll have to bring it up to my husband and see what he thinks.

Thanks for the tip on the M's game freebies. I'm off to check that out right now. Hopefully it'll land on a day we're not on vacation..

Badbasic, that's awesome! Is there a tech guide thing on how you did up your window screen things to match your car?

And in the bottom picture, you don't have the back window screen things on, do you?

Window screen... you know what I mean, right? I know that's not what they're called, lol.

i had the vent visors and the grills color matched at the body shop. one of the rear vent visor cracked during install so i duct taped it to get thru the show i was going to and then later decided to remove them since everybody else uses all four. just to be different. they could prolly be painted if u could find the paint to match, just be sure to use an adhesion promoter for the plastic otherwise it will not take paint too well.

I really like the painted grills. I knew it looked un-stock-ish in the front but couldn't put my finger on it. I think that if I ever put money into modding my xB, that'll be it.

You've got a sharp car, I really love it. Thanks for the info and tip!

to get the tape off... suggest doing it on a warm day..... the heat makes it easier to peal off.... or could use a hairdryer or something too... or just brute force... it'll come off.. .then just use goo-gone or something to remove the resisdue

yea, like he ^^^ said. a sharp razor is also needed to trim at the moulding. if you do this mod, BE PATIENT. heat does help, so u could use a hairdryer with a high heat setting. u could use a heat gun, but unless ur experienced with one i wouldnt tempt fate and watch ur paint melt off. for those that r interested in the intake ports pm me and ill tell you how it can be done for $10
