Default CRACKERJACK BOX??

Here's the deal. When I bought my car it was supposedly Thunder Cloud Metallic. But if you put it next to any other TCM xB it looks more of a pearly champaign color. I was talking about this with someone at a local meet last night and he said that Scion made only a handful of these and called it a "crackerjack box". Apparently they are really rare. Well this kinda sucks for me because the 1d2 paint is way off and it still says on my vin tag that its 1d2. Anyone know/hear anything about this?

Never heard anything like this. Did you talk to your dealer about it? Did you look in the back cargo compartment for a prize??

There are bound to be differences in the shades of TCM. Yours looks TCM to me from your pics. I'm thinking if there difs. in your paint it was due to a bad batch of paint the day your was painted at the factory. Nothing more. That crackerjack thing sounds like BS to me.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. I think the term "crackerjack" is probably an excuse for laziness.

OK, I believe I might have an answer for ya. I went today to have a can of spray paint mixed to paint some pieces inside my car. Anyway I gave him the paint code and he went to look it up. He came back and asked for my vin # because he said there are variations of the paint . And that the vin# would let him know which plant it was produced at so he could get as close to the same shade as possible. SOOO long story short, apperently each color could have variations depending on which plan it was produced at.

The TCM has a three step paint job vs the other colors having a 2 step--dont they? Could this account for the problem

I once bought a oem TCM grille of someone on SL and it was a very different shade of silver, more pinkish than mine by comparison...
