That has only happened to me once and I high beamed them right back. I expected it to happen a lot more when I put my Osrams in, but it hasn't.

I always thought of the ppl with really bright lights like HIDs as a$$holes, but now it seems that I'm the a$$, and with stock lights. i noticed the flashing and then i was following my wife somewhere the other night and she confirmed that they are indeed blinding.
....
but it feels gud. ;)
i think im going to install frickin' lazer beems

MOST of the time the problem is the lights being aimed a bit too high and/or too far to the left coupled with the slightly choppy ride of the xB and the fact that the headlights are just a bit higher mounted than the average.

This makes the headlights "flicker" into the eyes of oncoming drivers, and if your lights are especially bright or lean toward the 'blue' end of the spectrum this can be very hazardous to your health and theirs - if they can't see they can't avoid what's out there.

I drive an xB. I drive at night. I've NEVER been flashed by oncoming vehicles. My headlights are aimed correctly "per the book."

To that end I offer...

(If you are running aftermarket "projectors" or some other aftermarket assembly are you SURE your fancy headlights have a proper sharp horizontal cut-off and are aimed straight forward, not slightly to the left and not "up" at all? MAKE SURE!)

P.S. Instead of marking on my garage door or on the side of some random building, what *I* do is to put some the the blue masking tape in a horzontal line at the proper height on ANY plain light colored wall (the back wall of a store usually has a nice blank area and a flat parking lot). I then put two short vertical pieces of the same tape at headlight center distance in the horizontal stripe. This gives me the proper target, and when I'm through I can just zip that tape right off the wall and everyone is happy. :D

just slam your car and it isnt too bad. i like how it doesnt say how much lower the drivers side light should be compared to the passenger light . so um should i just tape measure to teh center of the headlight? the instructions aren't very clear.

I'm wondering where this super-paper they use comes from too. At almost 10 feet away from the wall, it seems like that would have to be one large piece of 'thick white paper'. No dimensions either.

Probably because they are taking for granted most shops would probably have the headlight aiming targets painted on a wall already, or have one of those fancy headlight aiming set-ups.

i had the problem with people flashin me because of the lights so i adjusted them and i found out the the left light will not go down enough. i turn the screw in one direction and just goes up and down. i took it to the dealer and told them to readjust the light and the are still to high.

There was a thread on this along time ago. I think that it is a mixture of all of the above.

Just for interest, this is how mine line up...

As per the manual the flat cutoff is just under the horizontal line (the top of the tape is the height of the middle of the headlight, the bottom of the tape is where the cutoff should be per the low beam adjust drawing - the difference is about an inch).

The only thing that i have done to the car wold be silverstar headlight. Stock tires stock ride height all stock but at 1:30am sep. 16 i was pulled over by a cop that thought that i had my brights on. I told him that i went to the dealer and had them align the headlight and they still are to high.

Ya alot of people get ____ed off since I have white lights and like everyone said, its in the direct line of most smaller cars so i get flashed quite a bit.

It's not a problem...it's a safety feature. The stock headlights shine better and farther (low setting) than previous cars. The High beams are like flood lights.

A bit off topic. Has anyone ever look at the rear turn tail signals when you unlock/lock the vehicle? Those yellow lights are BRIGHT! Another safety feature. Always preferred yellow turn signals to red because it shines better.

Wow... I didn't realize that everyone was having this problem. It happens to me all the time. The problem is probable going to get worse when I upgrade the stock bulbs. Oh well.

I think they come aimed a little to high from the factory. I was getting flashed all the time so I checked them and they were actually pointed slightly up. Made the adjustment and no flashers since then.
