I can tell you that I talked to streetbeat. Of corse they said it would be no problem. They Also told me they had done xBs before, without incident. I've wanted to do the same thing for a long time. But the long term effects of it have me worried.

There was a post here in SL of someone installing a large slider. But the guy never really posted again. I was thinking about a bigger one then redneck either 35x70 or 40x70 or 40x55, I want it roof sized.

Here is the Webasto folding fabric model:
http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ing%20Sunroof/

I considered it, but heard it was not watertight in a carwash where spray came from the sides, and my local Webasto dealer did not want to install one. The warranty is not long, the whole thing is not as durable as an inbuilt sunroof, and I think the integrity of the roof may be somewhat reduced by the large opening. So I sent with this Webasto model:
http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...%20and%20Dash/

One thing I don't like about sunroofs is the floating headliner. The factory headliner is solid, a carpet material bonded to a rigid shell. After a sunroof, your old headliner shell goes back in with a huge hole cut in it for the opening plus rear frame. You get a floating headliner made of fabric stretched taut across the sunroof frame to the edges of the roof. It flutters a little at high speed with the sunroof open, and can be punched through if you are not careful.

One company, Inalfa, is making sunroofs for at least one car (Mustang) using solid headliners. I think they provide pre-molded fillets to glue to the factory shell, to build up around the sunroof frame, so that carpet material can be bonded to the headliner shell again.

One of the SE-Detroit members has a very nice sun roof in his box. His screen name is Malthorn, the roof is sweet. I can't recall which brand, but I will post pics if I find one.

Edit: Here is the link to his pics. Looks great in person as well.

I thought about something just as nucking futs - how about a skylight in the box? It'd be the size of the roof (with maybe 5 or 7 inches away from the corners of the car - but made entirely of plexi-glass.... it won't open, but it would look insane! i'd ad some sort of visor to the bottom/inside however to cover up when the sun is beating down on us...

gl with your project,
- sh00k

I think that is a Webasto Panoramic. I heard there were problems and Webasto stopped making that model for the xB: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...ight=panoramic
I had a Webasto regular sunroof installed: http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...%20and%20Dash/
