HID advice
I know our xB's headlight height is higher than most cars and with HID installed I guess it's a nuisance. I run 7000k HID on my stock reflective lights and I constantly get ____ for it. People always think I'm highbeaming on purpose and flip me off, or either chase me with their highbeams on. I've been contemplating taking them off for a while. I'm leaning towards ripping them off for reals tonight because after a long day of work i got chased again by someone with their highbeams on. I wasnt even in this person's lane and they decided to change lanes behind me on purpose and flash their highbeam on and off for a good 2 minutes then speed off to their exit. This isn't the first time that has happend and it saddens me. I'm an extremely nice person and I would never purposely try to harm others, but our cars are distinctive and I don't want to run into a psycho that would purposely cause harm to me or my car. So my question for you fellow xBist is to keep the HID's or Lose them?

There is a reason why people are getting highly torqued at the lights you drive with. The HIDs are designed to run in a housing that is different from the housing you find in halogen bulbs. Dropping in some HIDs in the wrong housing will cause an insane amount of glare. The same holds true if you were to put halogens in a reflective housing designed for HIDs, you just don't do it. Just imagine staring at a high output flashlight while trying to drive down the road safely. Now, imagine those out there who have night blindness and have to rely on the taillights of those in front of them to know where the road is going.
There are two things you should consider doing with the HIDs. First thing, if you keep the HIDs, you need to reaim them way down so you have about a 10 degree drop instead of the standard 3 degree drop. This will not eliminate the amount of glare, but it will help a little. The second suggestion, get yourself a set of projector headlights. Sonar makes a very decent set which look good and has a fantastic cutoff, either that or drop a couple grand on a set of JDM HID Reflective housing and call it done. Until then, I'd say run the headlights without the HIDs until you get it sorted.
There's a good test you can do to see how bad it really is. Have a friend of yours drive your car, and you drive theirs. Now, compare the light output of the HIDs with stock halogens with the brights on. The color will be different, but the HIDs will appear brighter thanks to the glare output... that's light focused heavier in some regions over others... I could go into full details of the conical structure, but I'll wait to see what your response is.
I've been running with 6K 55W HIDs for more than a half a year and have yet to be flashed once.

No halogen bulb will produce the output of HID. However, HID in the stock headlights will never be perfect.
You can look into lowering them, installing casper shields, or buying projector headlights. Those work with HID with none of the glare issues.

Silverstar Ultras work well for halogen bulbs. You could run GE Nighthawks if you don't want to spend as much. Also, if you find the Sylvania CB series they have a cooler blue color than most halogen bulbs, just the output of the lights are definitely lower than HIDs.

and to the person "running with 6K 55W HIDs?" there is no such thing..those are called cheap halogens..

i might have the solution for you...i used to get high beamed all the time, flipped off, chased with their highbeams on, etc.
then i went with a new set of bulbs, i decided to get High/Low beam HID bulbs so the next time i got flashed, i would really show them whats up.
well its been a month now and i have not gotten flashed one time, not pee'd anyone off or anything, i actually got to flash someone for a change for driving with their highs on.
the kit comes with just 2 bulbs and a harness and its only $55 shipped which is a steal for bi-xenon bulbs. i got mine in just 3 days after sending payment.

i forgot to mention i am running Zenki headlights and have not changed the beam pattern, so think how much happier you would make all the people on the road when you put these in left hand drive headlights
