used to have that on my CRX. had a b-series swap, and the header wasnt heat-wrapped, so the engine got really hot. the lift really helped the heat escape better combined with removing the weather stripping at the base of the hood, as well as giving me extra clearance at the top.

i like the way it looks on a box, but i dont think ill be doing it to mine as it is would not really be as functional as it was back then.

skrew the haters. be yourself.

no offense, but that looks plain stupid..to each his own i guess, now all you need is a big ___ spoiler on the roof of your box to complete the RICE LOOK...........i did hear that proping the hood like that gives you like 12 hP gain though hahahahahahahahahahaha

Spoke with the owner of Do-Luck about this during a visit to his shop. It has been done here for quite some time, but after a lot or research, it cause turbulence under the hood. He showed us his hood he developed for the R34 GT-R and was actually tested. He showed us the aerodynamic advantages based on the results of the hood and his body kits. I was impressed and now I know what to look for in body kits.

Thinking about this mod. Might have to stop at the hardware store and try it out. Considering the low price of this mod I think its worth a shot...

on a rainy or cold night just sitting at a light or at idle, especially night time. my window started to fog up from the outside. not normal fogging, the heat motion. can't really explain it but try to put a shiny surface behind your exhaust, thats the fogging motion i'm talking about. i thought wat the heck? than started moving and it went away, fogged up again when i stopped than i knew what it was.than kept watching it and saw that it was heat from the engine rising up. so to me at least it seems like it's doing what i wanted it to do.

Awesome, you've just invented steam cleaning for your windshield. Maybe I can try this to help with de-icing my windshield in the winter!

Sorry couldn't resist.

I was just about to say that we used to raise the decks of our bugs for better cooling and air flow. Nice bug BTW! I think on a modded xB it looks nice. If I saw it on a bone stock one though, I'd think it was broken!

Anybody have issues with the hood latch letting go because of this mod? I installed some spacers last night and when I got home the hood had unlatched to the popped position. I closed it again this morning and it seemed to stay closed on my way to work which is a good 45 minute drive with high speed. Im just worried about the obvious...

I use to own an older bug and this was used not only to create higher air flow but also because after installing some aftermarket performance parts to the long block bettle motors, there was no way you would ever be able to closer the rear deck, so you HAD to set off the hinges to get it to close.
