Default How to black out the turning signals?

Hey guys.
I wanted to paint the grill of my white xB, as well as the headlights to black it out.
Does anyone have a short explanation of how to do the turning signals as well?
Like detaching it and how to paint it?

when you pop open the headlight to paint it just paint the turn signal housing too while you have it open. just mask off whatever part you dont want blacked out. i blacked out my entire turn signal housings. some people only do the sides. here's how mine look.

Are you talking about the headlight turn signal or the side marker? What color are you looking for? Finally, are you painting the reflector or just doing the clear cover?

I personally went with an overlay set since the tint is even across the light and it is removable if I get a ticket. Mine are headlight armor, Blue batmobile and rock blocker make comperable sets. Bat also has front and rear side marker overlays.

One thing to note, the headlight overlay doesn't cover the little triangle part on the horozontal axis where the turn signal lens sticks out. I still think they look great, and a set of EZ's eyelids will hide it.

the side markers are easy just push forward toward the front bumper then lift out the backside first. then you can remove the bulb housing clean and paint then reinstall
i yellowed mine to match the fogs

if you mean sidemarkers, i suggest going with BlueBatmobile's vinyl overlay. that's what I have, the smoked overlay. it's easy, removable, and looks very good. check my profile for pics.

haha. thanks for the replies guys, but yeah I was wondering how to do the turn signals.. but i might as well do the sidemarkers as well.

I haven't tried baking my headlights yet so once I do, the lens will come out for the whole housing of the headlights right? Including the turn signals right next to it?

haha. sorry guys. no0b right here.

you could always go with tint overlays...i didnt want to pull my bumper and lights and worry about baking them and all so i just tinted them and they came out great...here is a pic of my tint before i switched headlights and went with the Sonars

its 35% tint so i would guess 1/3 of your light output gets lost...but i am running 8000K HIDS so it was still UBER bright...not sure how dark it would be with stockers but there is lighter tint also...it looked great though...but after having the sonars i will never go back

I'd say pull the bumper and bake the headlights. It's really not that tough, and it looks really good when it's done.

Allowing time for the lights to dry, I'd say you can get it done in a day.

Yeah. i wanted to go ahead and try baking the headlights n' all that stuff.
I like the way the headlights look when it's painted black on the inside.

question though. is there any leakage once you do that?
and are there any other side effects once you do paint the inside black?

If you make sure that you reassemble the headlight correctly, there won't be any fogging.

Also, as long as you only paint the flat surfaces (not the parabolic reflector) it has no effect on light output.
