Default How could i paint my inner part of TYC lights?

So i just put the TYC tail lights(black housings) on my black 06 xb and i love them but i just realized i would love to paint the chrome part around the light to black...

Does anyone know if i can take the clear part of them off some how or am i gonna have to use a heat gun (or oven) to get it off?

Also what paint would you guys suggest that would work on the chrome part to make it nice and black (matte or gloss)

the paint i would use would be Krylon Fusion, that stuff will stick to anything...i know you dont have to heat the stock tail lights to pull the lens off, so you probably dont have to do it to your tails...

the only thing i will suggest is be really careful and take your time pulling the lens off...and get some silicone to seal them back up when you are done because you dont want any fogging issues in the future

any of your neighborhood auto parts stores would have a nice silicone to use, i would buy something from 3M or something like that, i am not sure what some of these other guys are using on their headlights when they bake them...but any silicone should work

i would probably go with a clear silicone just to be safe

can someone with TYC tail lights let me know if the outer lense is just completely clear?

is the red lens portions separate lenses on the inside??

if you have seen the regular and TYC side by side do you think the TYC lense would fit into the regular xb tail light housing???

I have tyc tail lights on my xa. I tried to open them like the front lights and I failed.
The glue they used dries hard. I took my time and the lens cracked. I tried the oven and it help but all in all I think a smoked look would be the safe way to go.
