Default Just baked my Headlights

I'd have to say this mod, was not that hard. I've had them on for a month or two and no fogging yet. It's rained a couple times to, so I think they've passed so far. I was wondering what the actual output of light to the road was gonna be with these. That was why I only painted the top part of the actual reflector of the light. I was surprised to see that I couldn't even tell a difference. Which was nice. But has me thinking of opening them up again and painting the bottom part to. I think I'll just stick with them the way they are. What do you guys think?

The part of the reflector that you painted is what reflects the light downward. I'm surprised you didn't see some light degradation.

I did something similar, but painted the lower part, it should theoretically reduce some HID glare, but I haven't tested it yet.

That does make sense, that'd it reflect it down. I guess I just didn't even think about it. I'm still glad I did though. I really can't tell a difference. I might, if I would've taken some before and after shots. I guess now it's like I have some makeshift eyelids. They definitely look way better than stock, I hated all the chrome in there.

Thanks, I'd like to think they look clean to. Nice to hear some other opinions of them.

I just new, I wanted them darker than a lot of other baked ones I've seen. That's why I did part of the reflector. I'm happy with them now.

One other suggestion... I don't really care for the Silverstar turn signals. You can get full-on chrome bulbs for em, they blend in very nicely.

I have to wonder if you get into an accident at night if there will be a problem with modification of the headlight since it will probably NOT be DOT approved.

Yeah, I was looking at that thread the other day. I really want to white out every light in the interior and get rid of the amber. I think all white would look good, who knows. Maybe I should search, I'm sure it's been done before.

What about daytime, if I were to get in a wreck? Cause I also red'd out my tails to. People screw with lights all the time, doesn't mean it's right. They put vinyl all over them, spray em and put the snap on covers. But, it's just a slim chance you take I guess. Lighting stuff is not nearly as illegal as a bunch of other stuff I used to do with my car. If you're into modding cars, most of the time you don't care, cause doing things that are legal aren't fun. You really think a cop is gonna check out your headlights, when the car is all smashed up? And he's probably not gonna have memorized what an xB headlight is suppose to look like. Sorry for the long reply, guess I just had some time to waste.

All I can say is every time I have been stopped and it has not been often - they go looking for any infraction they can find. Not having a red lense on the brake light will get you a ticket around here especially if the red lense is cracked and missing a piece. And forget about passing inspection every two years unless everything is ok and tint is factory!

You live in Cali or something? I'm in Arkansas and cops don't really bother people around here for stuff like that. I didn't clear my tails, they're all candy red now. Which, I could still get ticketed for I'm sure. For not having reverse lights or at least a white lens for them. And we don't have crappy inspections like that, yet. Hopefully it'll never happen. I could do whatever I want to do to my car and have no problems registering it or passing inspections, cause we don't have any. I'm glad I don't live where you live.

I've been running smoked tails for over a year with no issue. Had cops follow me all the time, they don't care. As long as their visible from 500' they're fine.
