Default My xB = Clear Bra Advertisement

My xB is 3 years old. I have 62K on it and they are mostly highway miles. I drive about 80+ miles a day going back and fourth from work and as a result, my front end is a complete mess. I know everyone beefs about the paint on these things... I have been in tune to that since I bought the thing. I do make a conscience effort to not tail people on the highway etc..... Looking back I really wish I invested the extra loot to spring for some sort of clear bra. Anyway, I took some pics to share with anyone who might learn from my mistake. Of course, if you are not even close the the commuter that I am then your front end will probably not look like this......

That's what I've been thinking about recently... whether to throw on the big black bra or find a place that will do a clear for me...

thanks for the pics!

I would invest in a bra if it wasn't so ugly. I've never seen a clear bra before. What kind of material would they make it out of?

I can't speak to what they use for material. My old man has the entire front of his new acura TL done. His was made by 3M. He basically put it on because of how my car looks now.

I would say to put it on to protect your car from the daily grind. Then you can take it off for the weekend pleasure driving......or is it too hard to take off?

I am thinking it's something i'd install and only take off when washing the car... I just don't know if I like the black bra look.. wait. Nevermind I don't really care about the looks as much... forgot I'm gonna have the roof rack and everything. Maybe the black scion bra is the way to go?

It's the crappy scion paint mixed with a flat front bumper.

My xB has looked like that since 10k miles.

Clear bra is 3M film. You can buy it uncut very cheaply, or you can buy it precut from Rockblocker and other firms, where all the pieces to cover the front are about $250. Then you can either find a place to install the material for about $250, or do it yourself. The installation is not easy, with each piece having a difficulty rating, and my local installer said he was not qualified to do the bumper yet. I tried installing the easier hood piece, messed up and took it off, and sold the bumper piece:

Then I got a Colgan carbon fiber bra for $200 with carrying case. It goes on and off in a few minutes, and I use it for highway trips.

Someone hasn't been using their touch-up paint. You prolly should have invested in a Colgan bra when it was new!

Actually I have touched up the front end three times now. With the amount of highway driving I do, being peppered with chips like this is inevitable I guess. And yes, I should have invested in some sort of front end protection.... that was the whole reason for my post...... that and so others could possibly learn from my mistake.

The install cost on the clear bra is somwhere between 250 and 350 depending on the place you go.
