From overlay to Candy apple red paint. Came out a little rough but i'll wet sand it when i get a chance and put clear vinyl on top of it to protect it from scratch.
heres the pic
oh yeah, im going to amber out the turn signals also, thats after i do all the touch up
not bad for 9 bucks.

Where is everyone finding the transparent candy apple paint? I looked at KMart, Walmart, Home Depot, Advance Auto today and NOTHING. I think I've seen it at a Hobbytown before, but there aren't any around here.

I think someone mentioned Testors transparent candy paint, which would be a hobby shop product, but I haven't found any. I've been looking for the Krylon too, but nothing. I was going to try Hobby Lobby, but if you haven't had success there either, then I don't know. I'll be heading back to New England next week, and I know the hobby shops around there, so I'll check them out.

I used the Testors stuff... I had to look around for it for quite a while. Check the phone book for hobby shops. I finally found mine at a fairly small privately owned shop devoted to model trains. So yea, it's out there, but you definitely have to do some legwork.

SUCCESS! with finding the paint anyway. I went to AC Moore crafts, nothing. Went to Michael's Crafts, they were sold out of the Testors Candy Apple, but they did have Testors Transparent Hot Rod Red, and the Krylon Stained Glass paint. Has anyone tried the Hot Rod Red? It looked a little pink.
I kept looking. Went to Hobby Lobby and they had the Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red. I also noticed when I was there that they had a whole display of Createx Transparent paints. They aren't sprays, so you would need an airbrush, but with the variety of colors, you could probably come up with quite a design. Has anyone used those paints?

I think I still have some left over Testors Smoke paint too from an R/C project so I might try some of that too over the backup lights. Still undecided.
