question about vehicle shield protection from dealer
is the vehicle shield protection worthwhile or is it just a way for the dealer to up the cost of the car and make some money, also if it is effective is there an after market alternative that might be cheaper. I dont care about the rental car stuff I am just wondering if the paint sealant and sound shield are effective. I am going to sign the paperwork on my car any day now and I am trying to make sure I make the right decisions.

yeah I am trying to get it as cheap as possible but if the sealant is going to help I can probably swing it since it will save me money later. I just want to make sure it is worth the money before doing it.

Based on the local dealer prices for accessories vs. what you can get them for online, I'd say that just about anything from the dealer is likely to be marked up excessively. I'd advise calling around and seeing how much you'd be charged elsewhere.

FORGET IT! the paint sealant is a mark up on the car. it a teflon base product that has no value that a good quality wax doesnt have. no sealant or wax will protect against chips/scratches. i finally talked our sales mgr to quit using it since most people weren't going to pay the inflated price anyway. the sound shield is undercoating that you can buy from any parts store for about a tenth of what u would pay at the dealer. if you do it urself, be sure that the underside is completely dry or else you will lock in the moisture resulting rusting problems you wont see for a long time and by then its severe damage.
