Default Rear fog lights?

Hi,

I have imported my 06 Xb from the US to Europe. Here you need to have a fixed rear fog light with a illuminated switch or indicator.
I was wondering, is there anybody that has a rear fog light mounted? If so, where and how did you do it? I am stuck on the location. I have a switch that has a light and a universal fog light. But just need to get an idea of where to put it.

Thanks,

Sven

There is a Toyota JDM option that goes into the rear bumper. You'd have to cut a rectangular hole in it and in the inner bumper support too. It's designed for the right side though, which may be fine for GB. There is a thread somewhere with lots of pics of the install.
I've been thinking about mounting a square Hella red on the rear hatch for a long time now, may be some day.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. After much thought, I decided to go and take out the left backup light bulb. Cut the positive wire going to the light bulb socket and run a new wire from the fog light relay. I need to find a red bulb that fits in the socket and I should be fine. We only need 1 backup light and the fog light needs to be on the left side.
I will keep you updated.

Hi,

So, I installed the switch and converted the rear left back up light to a rear fog light. The switch you have to see for yourself, because a JDM switch is probably different from a european accessory fog light switch. I split the red/white striped wire (lead wire going to the front fog lights) at the fog light relay and ran it all the way back.

In the back I did cut the lead wire going to the left backup light bulb socket and connected the new wire from the fog light relay to the wire that's going to the socket, not the connector.

I am going to make a more complete topic with all the changes made to the car for importation inspection, the switch will be included. I will also try to take some pictures of the lights on at night time.
I hope this explains it well enough to get an idea. If you need help with this let me know.

I did that on my 96 MX-6 and wired it to the fog switch since I took the OEM fogs out. they sucked anyway. what about pulling a reflector out of the tail light and intalling a buld there. there is a socket I believe.

Okay, here's a tail light without the lens, and I popped the reflector out. Not sure if there's a whole lot you can do there. On the back is one of the bolts.

That's true. It's perfect for something like that.

Another option would be to get the Helix tails. That has a extra socket.

Here is a picture of the rear lights. Look at the bottom one, it has a red light bulb. That's the new fog light setup.

I am going to take some pictures this coming week of all the changes made to the car and try to make that write up.
