Default Rear lift gate"latch" replacement

Hi

I broke off the rear lift gate latch/handle/body panel because I thought the car was unlocked when I tried to open the back.

Seeing as getting it will be replaced with yet another "fragile" plastic part are there other solutions out there? Maybe an after market one will metal framing?
Mean time I'm breaking out the epoxy to rebuild the screw mounts as a temporary fix (so that my license plate lights will be working and I won't get pulled over for a fix-it ticket).

Thanks

I would almost guarantee that it's gonna be a dealer only item. You could maybe reinforce around the screw mounts with some plastic adhesive but that would be about your only option. Just gotta be careful man.

Thanks. I thought so.
Had my Wheaties that morning.

Did the epoxy repair and reinforcement already.
Will look into something in metal reinforcement later.

The scionpro chrome garnish has been reengineered to reinforce it and it is cheaper than the stock OEM unit.

dont yank on it so hard next time... it's an electronic switch, not an actual handle that moves, treat it like a lady and be gentle.... till she tells you to get rough!
