where to paint the tail lights??? IN or OUT?
where should be the best place o paint the tail lights???
INSIDE OR OUTSIDE of the lense.
i was thinking to be wise to paint it in the inside but then i would get other inputs
to paint it on the exterior.
what do you prefer???
so that it wont cause fading in the future.
input would be appreciated! thanx.

inside is the best way to go. just take you time and do many coats. Testers candy red works great. Here is a pic of how my tails turned out painted inside and with testers candy red. 2 years parking outside and no fade , chips or scratches.

I painted mine on the outside using ppg clear coat with black toner mixed in. Unless you are using an automotive grade clear coat though, I would suggest painting on the inside as it wont be very durable. whatever you do make sure that you scuff the lens thoroughly to get the best adhesion. Also put your first few coats on very dry as a tack coat to try and eliminate "fish eye". And I would also suggest some plastic adhesion promoter for paints. Should be able to pick some up at a local body supply store.

check my profile pics, I painted mine on the outside. As long as your paint has the necessary ingredients to seal and protect the paint it wont fade. at least mine hasnt so far because im guessing since that paint is specialized for lenses outside i guess. The paint i used came from Super Autobacs, its the black lens paint they keep in the case or whatever. hope it turns out good either way, good luck!
