I don't think silverstars come in red. They use dichroic filtering. So, to filter amber light they reflect the oposite color - blue. To filter red, they would have to reflect the opposite color - green.

So, they would have to be green colored bulbs (when off).

I agree, taking the lenses off was a big pain - that's why I triet to post detailed instructions. Hoping that it'll make easier for others to do.

And yes, I do like the way they look on my white box.

I'm happy to see that people are finding this writeup useful.

I really hated the stock tails because of their lack of detail.

Beautiful work!

Do you think one of these Electronic LED flashers would work?
they are about 2/3 down the Page

Nope, those won't work with xB. That is a replacement for a standard old type 2-pin flasher. Scion already uses a special electronic flasher unit. This one won't even fit the socket. Scion flasher has more pins and it has bith standard flasher and hazard flasher in one unit. And the wiring is totally different.

It is a special circuit with 8 pins. It is integrated standard flasher/hazard flasher. It is driven by an electronic chip and it receives low current signals from the hazard and directional switches. It also has 2 relays inside. It's specific to xB (and probably other Scion/Toyota cars). On the wiring diagram it is called "Flasher Relay".

bb20inches and 5C10N_DR1V3R:
My bulbs still work fine. They appear to be made pretty well and they are nice and bright because they have lots of LEDs around the sides (not just in front). I didn't care much about the seller's tactics but he seems to have good product.

06PolarWhitexB:
it was a big pain to take the lenses apart. I did chip one of them. If you're worried that you'll break something, just pick up an extra set of taillights on eBay. They usually sell cheap. And if you'll break them, no big deal...

Is there another way to pry the lenses without braking them?

Since they are snapped together with what Scion manual calls "claws", there isn't another way. And my write up shows, the manual isn't all that helpful in showing how this is to be done. That is why I posted my method. If someone else comes up with a better method I'm all for it. I gave it my best.

I did this and used 1/4" pin striping tape that matched the TCM for the reflectors. Looks nice to me. I'm still having issues with my LEDs

Here are couple of night shots. But the camera doesn't show the true colors. The tailights are nice and red when viewed directly through a human eye. :D

Same goes for the turn signals - they look rich amber color in-person.
