Default 06 xB uphill battle..

Morning America. I can't figure out what is wrong with my 06 xB 151,000 miles - I changed the plugs and all coils - oil and air filter - but still has two issues makes funny jingle , or maybe not jingle - more like metal on metal noise in the front bottom driver side under engine and also when I first start car in the morning.
Engine sounds and feels like its going to turn off, like it's on some kind of respirator fighting for it's life - when I put it in drive and tap the accelerator it takes a few seconds to actually push the car, slows down bad going up hill? I hope it's not tranny??? Could it be time for the timing belt?

Please help

some things u did not mention:
Have u ever changed the $15.00 PVC valve which helps with engine respiration?

you have high milage
Did ever do a good cleaning of your fuel injectors with any aftermarket products such as SeaFoam etc?

Change your fuel filter located under the hatch spare tire area?

Good Luck.......

no sir i have not changed pvc , and have not cleaned fuel injectors ...would that be something i could do on my own with tools from my "average person tool box" lol - parts and cleaning foam dont sound pricey . i was told by autozone and advance that to replace fuel filter i had to replace the whole fuel pump ? is that not true ? i also forgot to mention "trac off" "VSC" and check engine lights are on ... im scared , i was reading yahoo answers and some people are saying it will be the timing chain ..$$$
thanks so much for helpin out

Here is a link to the manual for the xB, it shows you how to remove everything JIMXB mentioned to you.

Well, since you are not taking your high mileage car to a mechanic to find the problem. Just my 2 cents others may not agree. I would at least start with the cheap simple needed high mileage car maintanance:

1. change the $15.00 PVC valve
http://autos.yahoo.com/maintain/repa...ques079_1.html
2. check all engine air/vacuum hoses if loose or cracked.
3. Here's the DIY on cleaning the MAF sensor
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160320

4. I would do this before I use a fuel system cleaner.
DIY xB Fuel Filter Change $60.00, which is right under the rear seat cushion https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93840.

4. Clean your fuel system thru the gas tank with professional BG 44K Fuel
Cleaner about $30.00, some say it is alot better than SeaFoam.

Now about the Check Engine, VSC, Trac Off- something to read to get u started
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163405

Keep us posted on what + how you did to solve your problem.
Good Luck........

If there is an Autozone near you, have them pull the codes for the Check Engine light. That will tell almost exactly what you're dealing with. They do that service for free.

PS if you would like to purchase BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner it's hard to find + only sold to car dealers or auto repair shops. You find it on ebay or from where i buy it http://www.autobahnpower.com/products.asp?recnumber=542. I just bought 6 cans for my 3 cars + to save$ on shipping. You get a 11 oz can for 20 gal gas tank.

Good luck. Keep us posted on your fix.
