Default 4WD Scion?

Does anybody know if Scion has any plans for a 4-wheel drive XB?

I'm trying to convince my wife into buying an XB, but she says she would only consider it if it has 4WD.

She is an RN, and now drives a Jeep Liberty that gets maybe 14 MPG.

She has to have a SUV 4WD because she is required to work no matter what the weather is.

Years ago in the days before the 4WD, in bad weather, the fire dept would pick her up to get her to work. Problem was they wouldn't come to the hospital to take her home.

So anyway, she thinks my RS02 is the ugliest vehicle on the road, but would consider one in black or blue only if it had 4WD.

Naw not thats in the future. the bB in japan you could get in AWD i believe, but you would be better suited getting a Rav4 or *gasp* Element

theyre just better suited i think in your case

No 4WD for the U.S.A.

Although I think the Japanese Toyota bB had a 4WD option

If you know how to drive in the snow you should have no problem navigating the xB in the snow. If you can't safely navigate in an xB, because the snow is too bad, you shouldn't be driving any vehicle 4wd or 2wd. Thats my opinion.

An opinion coming from Louisville, KY, is meaningless.

Here in NY will have to deal with real snow storms and blizzards, not just a dusting.

4 wheel drives are needed.

well even if it was 4wd it sits so low it would be like driving a snow plow.

Okay NY cant talk. Talk Nebraska here. you'll find out what real snow is. and thats still nothing compared to ND and SD. they get piled on.

i belive the 4wd one sits a little higher. not much but enough. plus you can remove the lip kit during winter like some have done.

btw, codycat, you probably didnt need to post out that you found the answer and could get the bB like DJX said. just add it in here. otherwise it slows up the boards

Last winter, I drove my xA everywhere and never got stuck once - even when there was 10-12 inches of snow on the road (see avatar for example!). I'm sure the xB would do just as well, possibly better, because of the traction control feature. The key is to have a good set of snow tires (I used Bridgestone Blizzaks) and drive very carefully. You shouldn't have any problems in NY. Let us know how it works out!

You can import one from japan. I don't think they are much more expensive, I seem to recall Unik_One saying that someone had that done at her dealership, and it was only $1000 more than a normal xb.

talk to her about it if you want more info

or you could just get all the parts sent
and build your own

too bad it will cost more than a whole new xB to do it right

Probably has something to do with left- vs. right-hand drive.

I am sure you will see I am in SW Indiana, but let me say we had 19" of snow in one night this past winter and driving the next morning was not a problem whatsoever (except for the low ground clearance) The xB did fantastically both starting and stopping on packed (nearly icy) snow. Removing the skirts may not be a bad idea, never thought of that. A RAV-4 is a good call, but the xB is surprisingly stable in all weather. The VSC and ABS and EBD and TRAC all kick butt in keeping you going down the road safely. I did go out to an empty lot and tried to cut a few nuts, and the car wouldn't let me, it stayed too stable, and responded way too well for being in the conditions it was in.

i like this anewer. some people think whenthey have a 4WD vehicle theyre invinceable in it. you dont need 4WD to drive in the snow. you need good driving skills to drive in the snow
