6'4" and knee hits shifter. Need help
#21
You must be a 300 pound bodybuilder with 30+ inch thighs!! lol get off the juice and maybe ur big ___ legs wont hit the shifter!! LOL jus playin dog. I say this cuz i am a bodybuilder and i have 27 1/2 inch thighs and i fit fine, that must mean you are one big fella. If this is the case, i would try to trade it in for an automatic. Lot less work to drive and the shifter will be all the way down in drive most of the time.

...god i hate it when they change my swear words! makes it sound so dumb, also i wanted to correct myself, i didnt read through the whole post and saw you WERE driving auto, i would think the auto would be easier but it seems its the opposite from all the tall fellas here.

My parts company (Unknown Performance) is working on a simple shifter extension that will be either 3" or 4". It will basically thread onto where the shift **** goes and then you thread the **** onto the extension. Our prototype should be done today and I will be testing it in my manual xB. I dont have the knee problem because Im not that tall but i do have a problem because my racing seats are much wider than the stock seats. I will keep everybody updated....

Update
I did the washer mod on the front of the seat and it made it 300 times better. I however would like to raise my shifter and would like to get a prototype or first run from peruzzi. If you can make that happen please PM me.
Yes i am a big fella. not a body builder anymore but do have huge thighs with a shorter than normal inseam. ( 30" ) I am all upperbody.

On a more serious note, I do plan on some seat mods. I like the washer idea.

No thread needed. You get replacement bolts (4) that are longer by the amount of spacer you add under the front seat bracket. In my case I went 3/4 inch spacer with new longer bolts.
Experiment but stacking washers and wraping them with tape to hold them all together. add or subtract the amount till you find the sweet spot.

I'm 6'4, 235, 34" inseam. I did the seat mod the first week I got my box in February and to be honest, the only thing I've noticed is that my leg is closer (too close) to the steering wheel, to the point where my leg interferes with turning. Think about it; all we're doing is raising the seat UP, not back. Plus, the angle might be one of the reasons my floor mat wore a card deck-sized hole through it. I'm putting my seat back as soon as I can find where I put the damn shorter bolts!

Or I could be happy that I fit at all and that the 103 HP engine will carry my big!@# down the road.

^^Don't blow the mod off just because one person didn't care for it. It worked fine for me and countless others. Plus it is really easy and cheap to do. Try it you might like it.
If you move the seat backwards it will cause other problems like not being able to reach the steering wheel without leaning forward.
If I ever move my seat back I will have to bring the wheel with it first with a spacer or something.

I agree. It worked for me. I am very picky in what I will do and if I do not like something I surely would let people know. If it does not work for you then in 5 min you can put it back to the way it was.
So far 1 person who is 6'4" witha 34" inseam it does not work for. I know this 6'4" with a 30" inseam , It did the trick.
Leph out

So Tall & So Short
Not to get too personal, but I can't envision a 6'4" guy with a 30" inseam. It would be like chopping my feet off right at the ankle bone. You must have a long torso.
Anyway, think about it. IF you've got long legs and you sit with your left leg at a 90 degree angle, all you will do by raising the seat is get your leg that much closer to the steering wheel. A dangerous situation if you have to turn quickly.
To be honest, the small box has amazing room as is, without the mod. But it's always nice to be able to be able to tinker and experiment. Check it out. You might like it.
