Do you think the extended warranty is worth the cost? I am curious if I made a mistake getting it or not. I plan to have this little thing for a while....but I have never really have any issues with any cars that actually qualify for warranty work? Lemme know whatcha think, k.

I bought it because I drive 20K miles a year....so that would mean my 36k warranty would be up in a year and a half....

then my bro in law who has an xb says that he read in consumer reports that its not worth it because these cars are built so well....

i did get the extended warenty because you never know. Since the Scions are new, i thought that maybe i may need it... and i drive ALOT. You never know, i would reather pay an extra 1,500, then worry about something messing up 25,000 miles down the road.

well some how i got tacked on the extended warranty but i'm fine with it its my first new car ever in my life, all due to those trickiery sales men at the dealership that done it too me oh well

I got the 100,000/6 year, will probably get to 100,000 in 5 years. If you need it to get to work and don't have a good alternate it makes sense. Throw in kids and the AZ heat and you HAVE to have the car, and it just helps you sleep a little better at night. The one on my 2000 Jetta already paid for itself, but this is a Toyota so maybe I will never use it. Very nice knowing it's there though.
I think you can buy it later as well, before your standard warranty runs out you can add it? At least I thought my guy said that. If so, wait a year and reconsider then.

When I got my car, I was offered the extended warranty, but I couldn't afford it. I sure do wish I could have added it, though. My main concern is that I don't want to owe money on a car that is not under warranty.

i bought the 7yr/100k warranty and for sure it gives me much more peace of mind my last car that was used had alot of problems but when you have a car thatll run a 12.4 1/4 mi N/A your bound for problems this is my little familly whip now and to me 1,100 isnt much atall for that kind of warranty

What does this warranty cover? Around here the biggest wear item is corrosion, from the road salt. Suspension is next due to the condition of the roads.

mine is a full bumper to bumper and powertrain for the entire 7yr/100k if you wanna know specifics look on toyota for the platinum extended warranty i belive its the same thing aside from the cost/mileage/yrs. covered

My wife drives 12K a year. So the xA will be wit us for a while. I got the insurance a few months after I bought the car. 7/100.000/$1100. All you need is one power window servo to go and you have probably saved 1/2 of the cost. Plus peace of mind. $1100 / 7 / 365 = $.43. So switch to a small coffee and it's paid for. I feel comfortable with the dealer I got the car and extended coverage from. For my mental well being, It's worth it. Most things can't be diagnosed and fixed in the back yard like 20 years ago. Yeah it's worth it. I spend double that in gas a year on my truck.
Here is a way to look at it.
Motor = $3k + (Just guessing)
Tranny = ($1,400) (Remember this is the difference you paid from a stick add $800 to that and you have a full pop tranny)
A/c system ($1k+)
Power window motor = $150 + Labor to install
Power door lock motor ($75 plus install)
Power mirror motor ($125+ labor to install)
Guess some catastrophic event happens and the motor goes out, or tranny starts flaking out, for what you spent on the warr. youve got piece of mind. On my s-10 I bought the best ext warranty I could find, damn glad I did. In 1 year I had over $5k worth of work done on that truck, warranty cost me almost $2k but it helped me sell the truck, it also kept the damn thing running. I can't remember if we got the 7 year 100k or 7 year 75k, either way I don't have to worry about it except for the basic stuff.

It depends what the extended covers. I've never purchased one myself.

If it's drivetrain only, forget it. Why pay extra money when you can get better warranties than that for nothing with other cars?

It's a Toyota product. You should have nothing to worry about.

Oh the EXT for my Lightning? $2400 covers only the motor and only for 24,000 or 24 months. The Scion one is a good deal.

Yes I agree it is a Toyota, but have you ever bent a valve in your Toyota? A buddy of mine at work ended up spending $2300 to fix a valve tap in his 98 4 Runner.

i live in the blistering heat and i see EExA is right here with me and one thing that gives me peace of mind is that all the AC components are covered and in this heat ive seen compressors go out left and right and they are a pretty penny to replace i understand its a toyota but even the best cars have thier share of problems things wear down eventually PLUS if you decide to sell before it expires then you have sonething that would certainly help with the sale and get you some more money

Bought the warranty, was told by the dealer that it was half of what the same warranty is for an 05 toyota, they couldn't believe it, great peace of mind.

I got the 7/100. If you include it in your financing, its not that bad.

I was stupid in my Echo, and backed up over a snake doing about 30, and the check engine light coming on for the transmission. It was going to cost at minium $2000 from a transmission shop, and $3000 from toyota, I figured I would just use that money for a down payment on a new xA and get an extended warranty 7 year 100,000, my Echo only had 75,000 on it.

Always read the exclusions. One of my favorites is the clause that states, failures are not covered when the failure is caused by a fluid leak. When you figure that a fluid leak is very often the cause of many failures of automobile parts and fluid leaks happen to the Engine, Transmission, Cooling System, Brake system, and Power Steering system, you do have to wonder about how much protection you really have. Of course, you can keep a close eye on your car to avoid problems, which you should do anyway. Just an observation.

Do you think the dealers would offer this warranty if they did not make money??? No take that $1100 and put in your bank account for a rainy day. Its obvious to me lol. O i did purchase a used wrangler that had a extended warranty the jeep had 5k miles i did some reading and ending up selling the warranty back to chrysler for $1200 lucky me. People that say they wished they got the warranty um use your brain, even if you did have a problem with your car do you think it would be covered i doubt it.
