Default After the fact cruise control installation

I'm looking at getting cruise control on a 2004 xb. Has anybody done that and if so, how has it worked out? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Works great. Very, very useful. You don't realize how much of a benefit having cruise control is until you have to do a long trip and don't have it. Mine is made by Rostra, I think, which is what the dealers are installing. Cost me 300 installed for the electric version.

Do a search for cruise control and you'll find many topics on this.

dealer option is the same as the aftermarket rostra. i love my cruise. couldnt live without it.
that said, i think it engages a little slow. it will also kick up the rpms pretty high when taking a hill in my automatic. i usually have to play with the acc/res button a little to get the speed where i want it..

just got mine installed last week, not much for electrical work, so i paid 350 to get mine installed. (That's $350 total, not $350 in labor! haha)
Totally worth it, driving to the beach this weekend, then to Ohio for a wedding 2 weekends after, can't wait to use it!

Default Cruise Control

I got my Rostra cruise control on ebay. Brand new. $189.00. Install a bracket under the hood, all the electric connectors are plug in (except 2). Mount the stick on the Steering Col and your set. I does engage a little slower the the factory on my GMC, but works great. Would never do without. I can't remember the name of the vendor, but I think he's somewhere in the Northeast.

Found my Rostra electric cruise kit on eBay for $180.00. The reason why some are saying it's slow to get engaged once you hit the "set" button is they may not have installed the linkage on the throttle right. It sounds like they just have too much gap in their linkage is all. It states this all in the installation instructions that come with the kit. I installed mine on my xB and the cruise sets immediatley upon pressing the "set" button.

It's a good and fairly easy install job. The xB with it's lack of HP going up hills can be a bit annoying though with using the cruise. I have the auto transmission and if climbing a good hill I simply just press my overdrive button to "off" until I've finished the climb. This allows the cruise to maintain your set speed without it constantly trying to goose the throttle hard during hills.

The worst part was just trying to find the most ideal place to mount my control arm. It works very good and worth the price. The Rostra kit I bought on eBay came with the same 3year/36,000 warranty as the dealer one would.
