^^^^
Great info right there!!!!!
I guess Optimas aren't all that. I figured the Red top was really the only one to use tho if you must have Optima.
I only have a 400 amp amp and single sub so any stock replacement battery will work for me. I'll prolly go with something from Autozone when the time comes. So far tho my stock (5 year old battery) is still alive thanks to using a Battery Tender once and awhile.

I've got 2- 7 year old yellow tops in my full sized van that are still going strong. I use them to power my TV and diesel fueled heater when I'm parked. Keeps me from having to run the engine to stay warm.

If you get an Optima, go with the Red Top: 75R/35 for a direct drop in.

Just get one from Costco. That is all you need for crying out loud. $60, drop it in and go. That is what I did. Anything more is simply a waste of money.

i went with an optima because i know someone that works at advance and they kind of set it out the back door for me tonight. now my problem is, the new battery is shorter than the old one so my tie down doesnt work, what did you guys do that are running optima batterys? i take some pretty fast turns and all and dont want my battery sliding all over my engine bay taking out my ballasts and wiring and such.

I took a wind chime that my dad threw out, cut the metal pipes the same size and they fit between the two washers on the support bar. Hard to explain, but I used them as a 1 inch spacer to allow the top nut to thread, but still push the support bar accross the battery.

I used a tap to run the thread down lower on the stock battery tiedown, works well. Forgot the thread pitch. Don't get the tap set from advance, it's garbage.

I looked at optima but have read mixed reviews. I'd suggest Odyssey / Stinger, it's a gel cell, sealed, and works great. If you're stock stereo, you really don't need one. I'm running a Mac mini that goes into standby when the car is off so it's always drawing a small current, and the stereo is around 1200W. I was consistantly killing the stock battery but the Stinger hasn't died once.

I can vouch for the Stinger gel cells. Those things are very nice.

As for height, I swapped out my tie downs for universal ties. They work the same. Another option would be to get in touch with EZBake and have him make a tie down with an extra 1" height... show and style in one piece.

yeah EZ puts out some awesome products, i have given him some thought. i will probably go with a universal tie down, the red top looks good in there, im running the volant intake so my battery is over 50% covered by the intake box but that splash of red sets it off lol

The plastic tray that is on the top of the batteries is supposed to go under the battery when you put it in, and the oem rods and tie down still work fine.

so tell your buddy to get you one of the parts that is on the top of the battery when it is on the shelf.

and on the Kinetic batteries, they are great if you use the batt all the time and or drive the car all the time, if you let the batt sit for short to long periods of time then it is not good at all. This info is from a friend of mine that is a Kinetic dealer.
just my 2censt on that.
