Default BAD NEWS - My Roof Got Crushed By A Huge Tree Branch!!!

Within the past hour a huge branch broke off a tree and crushed in part of the roof on my xA.

It's really bad because it's not like a fender or bumper that can be replaced easily.

The roof is crushed in over the rear door on the driver's side, I can't tell if the door or door frame are damaged yet.

This is going to cost me A LOT of money!!

-Pete

The question is, will it cost me more to fix it myself, or to pay the increased insurance premiums.

No. It was a big branch, but not that big. The branch is about six inches in diameter at the base, and it's over 10 feet long.

The area of damage is about a foot and a half wide on the roof, and it's crushed down to the level of the door. The rear door kept the roof from going down any further.

My sense of sorrow and empathy for your situation everwhelmed my urge to post a "this thread is worthless without pics" gif.
It sucks, I hope your insurance will cover it.

Im am so sorry Pete. I just saw this. Please post pics when you can for us damn ambulance chasers.

Seriously though, if it was on the street, you may look into calling the city and filing a claim with them. They are responsible for the trees I believe which is why they prune(sp?) them. i know people who have gotten money from bent wheels on pot holes.

Might need to look into a lawyer. bleh

Sorry I don't have pics yet. I leave before sunrise to go to the hospital, and I get back pretty late, so I'll get some pics this weekend.

I'm feeling really bad about my xA. I want to build it into a showcar, but this might change everything. It will all depend on the quality and cost of this repair. There's no easy or good way to fix the roof, so I'm not sure yet how to proceed.

Thanks for the tip, Sherwin. I'll try to get some pics this weekend, and I will contact the city, and see what's up. I'm pretty sure I will need an attorney to get any results, (which might cost more than the repair!), but I'll do what I can.

My only glimmer of hope, is that the repair will be near perfect. If the repair goes exceptionally well- a new Imola Orange paint job will follow!!!
