I don't see how any of those problems can be attributed to using Seafoam. It's just a cleaner and not strong enough to dissolve the pump filter media unless it already had a problem.
The only issue I've heard of is using Seafoam in the oil and possibly spinning a bearing cause it thinned the oil out too much.

If it strong enough to dissolve carbon deposits on your valves, in an atomized form no less , in a liquid form ( more concentrated) it will eat just about every thing, including any plastics ( filter media in your tank) and some people worry about acetone eating it, at a much lower concentration ( 2 or 3 oz per 11 gallons of gas)

Not saying it will for sure , but just a warning. And using it in your oil , well I won't trust it. If you clean all the carbon and built up stuff in your engine ( depending upon age, miles and the care you have taken) you might be surprised at lower compression , scored bearings, cam shaft lobes and the like.

for cleaning sludge out they used to add 1 qt of #2 diesel to the crank case and idle it for a few minutes drain and refill, that cleaned it out pretty good. Would you do that now?

I just put in some wal mart concentrated fi cleaner into a half tank, ran it out and put in a fresh rank of 87, its running better than ever. With Toyotas, once a year and your good to go, doesnt matter what brand for the most part, its all the same stuff.

Why would I put seafoam in a motor thats got only 33K on it. I only needed cheap stuff, and it worked. Maybe in 100K miles, I will. Toyotas need simple FI cleaner, once a year. I was just stating fact, what worked for me.

I treat one tank every oil change. The mix is one ounce per gallon of fuel and keeps everything clean and running great.
I've heard a couple recommendations for using on the tank of gas two tanks before an oil change. So that any cleaner in the piston blow by that gets into the oil isn't in the crankcase for the next 6 months.

I was told years ago, that you can do more harm than good if you use FI cleaners too often. It can damage the o-rings, seals, or some such parts. Once or twice a year should do it. Everything in moderation.

Seafoam is for higher mileage units. That much I get. However what your saying is, if it works, dismiss it, if it's not seafoam.

I agree. I don't use a FI cleaner unless I think there's a problem with bad gasoline. Maybe once a year, if that.

If you believe the advertising, Shell V-Power has "five times the amount of cleaning agents required by federal government standards". So for $0.30/gallon more than regular gas a couple tanks would clean the system for $6 instead of bothering with additives.

The picture I showed earlier is from an xB with 52k miles on it. You can see significant deposits on the #4 cylinder, matched with deposits on the intake cylinder. I'll see if I have pics of the valves. I'd be a little leary of using seafoam in the oil. It stays a lot longer than a tank of gas. For lubrication additive, try Marvel Mystery Oil.

I agree to a point. Regular FI cleaners have alcohol in them and are real thin. Seafoam is thicker and will not harm any rubber in the motor. It's safe to use each oil change if you want.
Anyone that wants to knock it really needs to try it first. Otherwise just be quiet cause it's a well proven product!
